Houston Astros History :HOU:
2021: 2nd Place in AL West (127-35)
The :HOU2: were competitive throughout the season in spite of losing Ronald Acuna to an ACL injury early on.  Making the playoffs as a Wild Card team, the :HOU2: easily defeated the :SEA: in the opening round.  Their success was short-lived, however, as they fell victim to the :LAA: in the ALDS.  The 2021 season ended with a GM change for the :HOU2:.  A new GM was recruited for the 2022 season and the team will certainly benefit from his fantasy experience.

2020: 6th Place in AL Western Division (31-29)
In the midst of this crazy season, the Astros showed some improvement.  With the league divided into three divisions, the Astros finished two games above .500, 6th in the Western Division, but more impressively, 15th overall.  Their rotation will be bolstered by the return of Chris Sale from Tommy John surgery and their everyday lineup has some very explosive bats.

At the end of the season, the current GM, will become the Cubs GM and transfer rosters with the Cubs.  The change will find the Astros welcoming a new GM, a GM that is new to FGM and ProFSL.

2019: 5th Place in AL West (62-100)
The Astros saw a rise of 30 games in the win total as it continues it’s rebuilding efforts under their new GM.  With a strong draft, and the acquisition of some new players via free agency and trades, along with a roster purge, the future is beginning to brighten for the Astros.

2018: 5th Place in AL West (32-130)
Midway through the season, there was a decision to make a GM change.  The decision was amicable, as the former GM decided that the Astros rebuild was a bit much for him and he moved to another ProFSL league. The new GM was returning to FGM after a two year hiatus and the team should be rising in the future under his leadership.

2017: 5th Place in AL West (20-142)
In a year where the MLB Astros won the 2017 World Series, the FGM Astros continued with their rebuilding efforts.

2016: 5th Place In AL West (22-134)
The Astros hired a new GM in the offseason.  The challenge of rebuilding a neglected team is certainly a formidable task, but with some available cap and some young talent on the horizon, the future is looking brighter.

2015: 4th Place in AL West (26-64)
The downward spiral continued for the Astros in 2015.  The team seems to be suffering from some neglect and it appears that the GM has lost interest.

2014: 4th Place in AL West (56-85)
It was more of the same for the Astros as they found themselves in the same position in the standings.  However, there was a digression in the Win-Loss column and the Astros will need to get some new talent if it hopes to move up in the AL West.

2013: 4th Place in AL West (72-69)
The Astros took a step back in 2013.  Switching over to the AL West, the Astros finished with a respectable record, but fell in the standings.

2012: 2nd Place in NL Central (95-65)
The Astros showed some life as they finished higher in the standings.  The team will continue to rebuild its roster and hopefully build on its success.

2011: 4th in NL Central (77-85)
The Astros struggled to score wins in the toughest division in MLB.  Kent the GM continued to rely on veteran talent to keep Houston competitive and shaped the team to do the same in 2012.  The team would need to rely on Adrian Beltre, Michael Bourn, Jason Kubel, John Lackey, Brett Myers, Hunter Pence, Wandy Rodriguez, and Yadier Molina.  A lot is riding on these veterans to help the team win in 2012.

2010: 2nd in NL Central (88-74), NL Wildcard
Kent Puett took over as GM of the Astros late in October, 2009.  He quickly made moves by dealing for prospects and signing players to extensions.  In free agency, veterans Jim Thome and Jose Valverde signed with the Astros as the team looks to compete in the NL Central with plenty of experience.  The Stros became the surprise team of the year by staying at 0.500 in the first half and picking up more wins in the 2nd half.  They stole the playoff spot from the Cardinals and Reds of the NL Central.  The team lost to the Dodgers in the ALDS.

2009: 3rd in NL Central (77-85)
The Astros started in Franchise GM without a GM for five weeks.  The original roster was based on a minimal (no options) version of the real life 40-man roster.  So when Scott Armand became the new GM of the franchise, there was much work to be done, and he was way behind compared to other teams.  Needless to say, at the time, the Astros were leading the NL Central and there was time for hope.  By the time the season ended, the team fell out of contention and the franchise was looking for new management.
