Sent DET a more complex trade offer but got back a simple counter that made sense. Oilers add a 33yo veteran while we send a 26yo we don't see in our future. Both guys will do well in their new settings. Thanks Whomp!

Can you say a bit more about your train of thought in this deal? They're in the same position with very similar production in the last two seasons, with very similar contracts, but they're in very different parts of the age curve.

Sure. You're worried this is skewed because Olli is 26yo and Alec is 33yo.
I and many Pens fans (add Hawks management & fans) have never believed much in Maatta. If you watch him play versus Martinez, you would also choose Alec given his 2way skill and reliability. If Olli was going to pop, it would've happened in PIT and less likely to happen with a rebuilding LAK.
For fantasy, Alec looks like he was a natural with VGK and produced strong PointPerGame #s and was trusted with big minutes, look at his Playoff stats. Add Pietrangelo to the mix and Martinez could see a solid fantasy uptick for a couple of years.
If the Martinez experiment fails, he walks to FA in 2021 and I use 2.2 million to sign a replacement of my choice.
Dedreger, can I ask you what your primary concern was so I understand your mindset as TC member?

Why would you think I have an issue? Weird. Just want to know what your TC thinking was and what type of TC member you were, that's all.
