Hi Franchise NHL GMs!

I wanted to post this before I forget again but I'm traveling a lot for work this week and then will take time off for a vacation next week.

February 13 to 18 I will have limited access to this site.
February 19 to 27 I will be on vacation with practically no Internet.

I know there are some possible deals shaping up. Rest assured I will work with you to finalize those deals if we can before the trade deadline and the start of my vacation.

Take care all!

Franchise NHL: Completed Transactions / Long-term IR Move: Brian Gionta
« on: February 12, 2012, 01:21:45 AM »
To increase our team's flexibility for possible future moves the Ottawa Senators place Right Winger Brian Gionta on Long-term Injured Reserve. Per league rules we free up a roster spot.

Quote
Long-term Injured Reserve
Each team will be allowed to place 1 player on Long-term Injured Reserve (LTIR).  Players salary will still count against a teams cap, however this will free up 1 roster spot.

Thanks

Franchise NHL: Completed Transactions / Trade between Ottawa and St. Louis
« on: February 11, 2012, 06:09:46 PM »
Ottawa Senators management strike another deal our 9th since assuming control of the team in late November 2011.

This time we bring in inconsistent Brad Boyes and hope he can produce a few points for us.

In turn we send the Blues two Right Wingers we thought we would rebuild around but sometimes the deal and timing just feels right so we pulled the trigger with St.Louis. Losing Atkinson is tough and we know he will be a very good power forward type player in the very near future (the kid loves to hit and shoot!).

Coming to OTT
RW, Brad Boyes, $4.0m (2011-2012)

Going to St.Louis
RW, Cam Atkinson, $1.6m (2013-2014)
RW - Nicklas Jensen, N/C, (0 Games) property of NHL's Vancouver Canucks

 :toast:  Jonathan to confirm.

Franchise NHL: Completed Transactions / Senators Buyout 1 Player
« on: February 11, 2012, 04:18:26 PM »
The Ottawa Senators have decided to buyout Blair Jones given his recent injury (Broken Ankle, out 6 weeks if not longer) has made Jones expendable for the remainder of this year. We also make this move to clear a roster spot for possible future moves.

Blair Jones, $0.3m (2011-2012)
Buyout at $0.2 Million (2011-12)

Thanks!

Here we go again with the basic pieces from the original trade but instead of Mike Granlund we have substituted in Danny Kristo.

Ottawa Sends:
RW - Chris Neil, $2.0m (2012-2013)
D - Alexei Emelin, $0.2m (2012-2013)
MiLR player RW - Danny Kristo, N/C, (0 Games)

Florida Sends:
RW - Brian Gionta, $2.0m (2013-2014)
D - Andrei Markov, $1.8m (2013-2014)
D - Derek Smith, $0.2m (2012-2013)
4th Round (EDM)

Ottawa is looking forward to getting this re-worked trade approved by all the powers that be.
Thank you! :judge:

I've got my eye on prospects hitting the 40 game limit. Detroit are you signing him to a contract or do you want to move him?

You're a tough GM to reach.

  • Daddy: If i have 10 top level AA prospects each in the top 10 of the franchise vs one middle of the road pitcher like Cal Quantrill (or pick a guy) which one of those two packages are more valuable?

  • dbreer23: Take two to tango, though. Most owners with adequate or surplus SP aren't interested in prospects as they're trying to win now.

  • Daddy: Agreed. But most does not equal all.

  • Braves155: My issue in LIVE currently is having Strider/Alcantara/Giolito all on the long shelf, so I am more retooling than rebuilding
    Yesterday at 02:46:48 PM
  • Daddy: Also agreed. Top quality pitching probably means not much depth. A few injuries can challenge you. Pitching other than top end pitching has been devalued in fantasy. Everyone wants the stud.

  • Daddy: I here to tell you that ALL major league pitching is good pitching. A great hitter beats a terrible pitcher just 3 out of 10 times. Which means the worst pitchers > the greatest hitters.

  • Brent: Greg Maddux had the best outlook.  He viewed himself as tye dealer/house and you had to beat him.  Just like in the casino, the house nearly always wins.

  • Brent: He had that view b/c of his father who was a blackjack dealer in Vegas.
  • Daddy: Yes @Brent!! That is it exactly. Pitching is the house & it always wins in the end.

  • Daddy: Until someone starts a minor league baseball fantasy game or option. Maybe we can petition fantrax? I just dont think they will care for that.

  • Braves155: The problem with the minors is not the system as a whole, it is some Farm Systems are more 'elite' at being able to produce talent than others. If you look across MLB teams you can pretty easily tell the great systems from the weaker systems and talent development
    Yesterday at 05:57:14 PM
  • Braves155: With regard to pitching in the Minors...there is  method to the madness. It is all about what you make of it tho. I agree that it can seem certain type arms in the minors are a dime a dozen
    Yesterday at 06:02:39 PM
  • Daddy: Mr Braves you are my guy. There isnt anything wrong with minor league studs or flops. I get it in REAL baseball.
  • Daddy: This is fantasy baseball. We dont generate revenue selling prospects and merchandising. Our top farms dont get a write up in Sports Illustrated.
  • Daddy: Load up on MLB guys, then near MLB guys, and only then is the quality of your prospects matter. Ya dig ;)
