Franchise NHL: Completed Transactions / Re: Discussion: FNHL Goalie Stats
« on: November 12, 2013, 12:22:08 PM »
I know when I resigned Carey Price I could've locked him up for another year but for an extra 2m a year or an extra 8m over four yrs. But I didn't and figured I could get more production out of that extra 2m I was going to save by signing a good FA skater or trading for one. Price's next contract will go from under 4m to close to 10m. Some tough choices ahead but not for another 2 yrs. LOL

I don't know if I'm too big on increasing the minimum base.  If we do decide to do it though maybe its best to just use 500k increments for contracts with the minimum being 500k.
I am ok with 500K, I like that it's an easy number.

I'd like to see the minimum increased. 0.5m is a good number!

About what Izaman3 said it's true that we go with a 30 man rosters but we cannot move players up and down the minors so it helps with playability (is that a word) to allow for an extra 7 players.

But that 0.2m min salary is too low in a dynasty league where teams can sit on rosters and make few moves because they don't have much cap pressure knowing they can sign FA's on the cheap for 0.2m. Increasing the min salary would force teams to make a few more moves and make things in the league more interesting during the season.

I'd like to see the limit increased like Rip but after reading Pigs rationale I'm thinking that domino effect would be bad.

How about another option of doing away with MiLR games played limit and you call up whenever you want to since you drafted the prospect as an investment. Teams would have to decide to promote as soon as their MiLR gets too crowded or in the case of the :ANA:'s and :PHI-NHL:'s of the league with only 6 prospects in the minors they can take their time before calling up players. Teams will naturally promote a player as soon as they play regularly and produce points consistently. And would make prospects more valuable because they can be stashed as long as you need for teams with full active rosters.

The current 40 game limit forces some players to get called up way before they're ready which hurts draft pick value if you think about it.

If you want to do the extra work Pigs I'm all for it. LOL

Skille was a free agent and anyone could've bidding on him. The fact San Jose ended resigning him after being the team that released him just means he got a better deal. Good on them. If 29 other teams passed on the guy :SJ: deserves the cheap contract and the discount. It gives teams flexibility in fantasy so that's a good thing.

So it looks like we're add MiLR's to Fantrax in December.

:WIN: is worrying me. Johnny's team handed my Hawks their first Loss last week. And now Bryzgalov is coming back. Of course he'll have that awesome Oiler defense protecting him. LOL

Almost missed this trade.

:iatp: Looks like it could be a killer deal for :STL-NHL: if Rinne can come back healthy. That could be a big upgrade over Halak. Skinner is injured but only 21yo. Domi is supposed to be amazing. Dillon hits everything that moves and scores a little. That package going to :NAS: is solid man!

  • Daddy: If i have 10 top level AA prospects each in the top 10 of the franchise vs one middle of the road pitcher like Cal Quantrill (or pick a guy) which one of those two packages are more valuable?

  • dbreer23: Take two to tango, though. Most owners with adequate or surplus SP aren't interested in prospects as they're trying to win now.
  • Daddy: Agreed. But most does not equal all.

  • Braves155: My issue in LIVE currently is having Strider/Alcantara/Giolito all on the long shelf, so I am more retooling than rebuilding
    Yesterday at 02:46:48 PM
  • Daddy: Also agreed. Top quality pitching probably means not much depth. A few injuries can challenge you. Pitching other than top end pitching has been devalued in fantasy. Everyone wants the stud.

  • Daddy: I here to tell you that ALL major league pitching is good pitching. A great hitter beats a terrible pitcher just 3 out of 10 times. Which means the worst pitchers > the greatest hitters.

  • Brent: Greg Maddux had the best outlook.  He viewed himself as tye dealer/house and you had to beat him.  Just like in the casino, the house nearly always wins.
  • Brent: He had that view b/c of his father who was a blackjack dealer in Vegas.
  • Daddy: Yes @Brent!! That is it exactly. Pitching is the house & it always wins in the end.

  • Daddy: There shouldn't be many innings available in FA in dynasty fantasy leagues IMO. Thats guaranteed money! To hell with High A ball.

  • Daddy: Until someone starts a minor league baseball fantasy game or option. Maybe we can petition fantrax? I just dont think they will care for that.
  • Daddy: Neither should we (so much). Every league i see is MLB.

  • Braves155: The problem with the minors is not the system as a whole, it is some Farm Systems are more 'elite' at being able to produce talent than others. If you look across MLB teams you can pretty easily tell the great systems from the weaker systems and talent development
    Yesterday at 05:57:14 PM
  • Braves155: With regard to pitching in the Minors...there is  method to the madness. It is all about what you make of it tho. I agree that it can seem certain type arms in the minors are a dime a dozen

  • Daddy: Mr Braves you are my guy. There isnt anything wrong with minor league studs or flops. I get it in REAL baseball.
  • Daddy: This is fantasy baseball. We dont generate revenue selling prospects and merchandising. Our top farms dont get a write up in Sports Illustrated.
  • Daddy: Load up on MLB guys, then near MLB guys, and only then is the quality of your prospects matter. Ya dig ;)
