2018 Season Preview
« on: March 24, 2018, 08:44:18 PM »
The more things change the more they remain the same it seems.  It will be interesting to see what teams can break through the league power structure.

In the NL East... the :WAS: Washington Nationals have dominated the division, winning five straight division titles.  This year the :PHI: look primed to finally break through and reach the playoffs.  Can the :WAS: Nationals defend their streak?

In the NL West... the :ARZ: Arizona Diamondbacks are looking to reach their fourth consecutive World Series as the most successful playoff franchise in league history.  Dynasty talk surrounds the :ARZ: Diamondbacks this year.  The :COL: Colorado Rockies will once again be their toughest competition with the :SF: San Francisco Giants in a rebuild of sorts.  The :SD: San Diego Padres have a shot at a wild card.

In the NL Central... the :STL: St. Louis Cardinals have owned the division for some time.  This year the :MIL: Miiwaukee Brewers will look to challenge for the division and break through to the playoffs.  The :CIN: Cincinnati Reds will also be looking to make a push for the wild card.

In the AL East... perhaps the most competitive division in Armchair.  The :TOR: Toronto Blue Jays will look to continue their dominance in the division.  The :NYY: New York Yankees are creeping up but perhaps still a bit away from a serious challenge.  The :BOS: Boston Red Sox, :TB: Tampa Bay Rays, and :BAL: Baltimore Orioles could challenge for a wild card.  Will :BAL: regret giving Shohei Ohtani that big contract?

In the AL Central... the :MIN: Minnesota Twins look ready to challenge for a World Series berth while the :DET: Detroit Tigers look to challenge for a wild card berth.  The :CHW: Chicago White Sox are in a forever rebuild while the :CLE: Cleveland Indians may start feeling the pain of neglecting the draft all these years.

In the AL West... the :HOU: Houston Astros look to defend their World Series title and make a little history as no team has ever won back to back championships in the history of Armchair.  The :LAA: Los Angeles Angels will look to challenge the budding :HOU: Astros dynasty and derail them.  The rest of the division is totally dormant.
