Franchise NHL / Re: FNHL Seattle Expansion Rules
« on: August 11, 2020, 03:27:14 PM »
I hate surprises is all. The expansion draft will throw a wrench into each team's plans. So will the next cap figure from the NHL in 2021.

I'd rather take the proactive approach like we did here in FNHL to set our own cap #. As fate would have it, the NHL fell in line with Franchise NHL with a $81.5M cap ceiling.

Amazing if you take moment to think about it. Great work by PPG & PR to stay ahead of the curve. :toast:
Best damn league around.:win::win::win::win::win:

Franchise NHL / FNHL Seattle Expansion Rules
« on: August 11, 2020, 02:11:11 PM »
Are these the same rules we're going to use in FNHL for the Seattle expansion draft? Just want to get a heads up on what's coming.
https://www.nhl.com/news/seattle-kraken-2021-nhl-expansion-draft-rules-same-as-vegas-golden-knights-followed/c-302586918

Looks like there's already a FNHL Seattle Kraken team page
http://www.profsl.com/smf/index.php?topic=369020.0

Franchise NHL / Re: DISCUSSION: DECREASE 2021-22 CAP CEILING?
« on: August 10, 2020, 05:54:12 PM »
Ultimately, a 5% rollback of any salary cap ceiling is a drop in the hat.

For example, 5% off $81.5 million is 4$ million.

Many FNHL teams had well over $10-$15 million heading into FA last yr and the FA talent pool ended up being blaaaaaah to say the least.

:iatp: That's the point. It's not a significant rollback by any means. This would help level the playing field for all franchises.

Again, my team has more to lose than gain from this BUT if the league is better off, we are all better off in the long run. :toast::win:

Franchise NHL / DISCUSSION: DECREASE 2021-22 CAP CEILING?
« on: August 06, 2020, 11:59:08 AM »
Perhaps consider rolling back the 2021-22 salary cap to below 81.5 million, even below $78.0 million.

WHY?

With FNHL adding the Seattle Kraken for the 2021-22 season, the 32nd team will absorb lots of existing salary.

My understanding is the skater increases this year were to a) keep value current with actual NHL player contracts and b) create the necessary cap tension in this league to allow for a more robust Free Agency annually.

So I think it would be good for our league (FNHL) to reduce, not just maintain the salary cap ceiling if we want to create some proper player movement and incent owners toward making more transactions.

Full disclosure, my Habs are going to easily need WAY MORE cap space starting now through next year so this recommendation does NOT benefit my team at all - in fact it will negatively impact my Habs.

The off season has finally arrived. It's been forever waiting for hockey to start and help get things back to some new sense of normal.

Games have been amazing to watch over the last 3 days.
Stalock was incredible for the Wild while posting a goose egg.
Habs Jeff Petry had a memorable winner in OT against the Pens.
Flyers were dominant vs the Canes.

It looks like you're accepting transactions here. Do we double up and CC over to Fantrax too?

  • Daddy: If i have 10 top level AA prospects each in the top 10 of the franchise vs one middle of the road pitcher like Cal Quantrill (or pick a guy) which one of those two packages are more valuable?

  • dbreer23: Take two to tango, though. Most owners with adequate or surplus SP aren't interested in prospects as they're trying to win now.

  • Daddy: Also agreed. Top quality pitching probably means not much depth. A few injuries can challenge you. Pitching other than top end pitching has been devalued in fantasy. Everyone wants the stud.

  • Daddy: I here to tell you that ALL major league pitching is good pitching. A great hitter beats a terrible pitcher just 3 out of 10 times. Which means the worst pitchers > the greatest hitters.

  • Brent: He had that view b/c of his father who was a blackjack dealer in Vegas.
    May 05, 2024, 04:35:28 PM
  • Daddy: Yes @Brent!! That is it exactly. Pitching is the house & it always wins in the end.

  • Braves155: The problem with the minors is not the system as a whole, it is some Farm Systems are more 'elite' at being able to produce talent than others. If you look across MLB teams you can pretty easily tell the great systems from the weaker systems and talent development

  • Braves155: With regard to pitching in the Minors...there is  method to the madness. It is all about what you make of it tho. I agree that it can seem certain type arms in the minors are a dime a dozen

  • Daddy: Mr Braves you are my guy. There isnt anything wrong with minor league studs or flops. I get it in REAL baseball.
    May 05, 2024, 06:20:28 PM
  • Daddy: This is fantasy baseball. We dont generate revenue selling prospects and merchandising. Our top farms dont get a write up in Sports Illustrated.
