It's getting expensive!
-
Everyone needs to remember not to outbid their cap space. Giants were over theirs with leading bids but have since been outbid.
-
Yes, no editing of bids either.
-
The lengths of some of these contracts for mediocre players is crazy. I think the Giants are run by a players union rep, that's the only reason I can think up for some of their offers.
-
Yeah, it's getting sporty. For the Giants sake, I hope Lourdes Gurriel is one heck of a player. I see a couple pitchers that may go for $100m each at this rate.
-
It's interesting strategy. Will your money be enough to get a top pitcher if you wait or do you need to spend it now and make sure you get something you need.
-
nobody will have any cap space left by the time the pitchers come up. Robbie Cano is going to get a billion dollars.

Ya thats why I asked why we dont do SP and OF first than go on down to players who usually get less money. Some of these bids are getting wild.

Pitcher's salary needs to be suppressed somewhat given injury and washout rates. Also most of these outrageous bids are by newer owners or the guys that have chronic budgeting problems.

Did something happen to Andrew Romine that I don't know about?
And I was happy trading him a year ago for a 6th rd pick I think....
-
He consistently hits 2 HRs a year and is only entering his age 31 season.

It appears the move from 5 outfielders to 4 has cooled off the market.
