The last time time Derek Jeter played in a baseball game it did not end well. It was October 1st in the opening game of the ALCS and Jeter broke his ankle lunging for a grounder. A week later he had surgery on it. Today Jeter took part in most of the team drills and expects to ready on opening day when the Yankees face their arch-rivals Boston Red Sox. However, the injury will prevent Jeter playing for the U.S in the World Baseball Classic this spring.

For the first time since Major League Baseball introduced player arbitration in 1974 there will no players going to a hearing. 133 players filed for arbitration this year but they have all settled without a hearing.

Pittsburgh Penguins would like to put Mikael Backlund on IR
Penguins sign G Jake Allen to a 3 year 2 way contract @ 200k per year (drafted 34th overall) and would like to call him up to the major roster

Pacioretty is expected miss 3 to 4 weeks. While this is a blow to fantasy owners who have Pacioretty, it will help those with Lars Eller as he will move up to the first line.

Vladimir Tarasenko - 2 year contract @ $1.5m per year (16th overall draft pick)
Simon Despres - 2 year two way contract @ $500k (30th overall draft pick)
We would also like to call up Adam Henrique from the minors

Adam Henrique, $1.0m (2012-13)
2nd round draft pick
Chicago gets
Alex Pietrangelo, $3.2m (2012-13)
I feel this is a good trade for both teams. A little bittersweet trading Pietrangelo but he is due a big contract next year and for that reason was expendable and getting a young player like Henrique and a draft pick was good. Also cleared up $3.2m in cap space which will help me out with some moves I want to make.
