Cross-Court Dynasty: Rules / Cross-Court Dynasty Official Rulebook

Intro:

Cross-Court Dynasty is a free 30 team dynasty league run on ProFSL.com and scored on Fantrax. This league utilizes contracts.

Premium League Fee

This league is run as a premium league on Fantrax (due to having 30 teams). The current annual premium league fee is $129.95 or $4.33 per team for 30 teams.


Tanking

Tanking is not allowed. This means you must consistently have healthy, active players in your lineup who are getting worthwhile minutes (IE: if Julius Randle is healthy, he should not be sitting on the bench in favor of someone like Jalen McDaniels). If you are found to be tanking, you will be warned and if you continue to do it, you will not be allowed back the next season.

The commissioner will be reviewing teams lineups periodically and adjusting them if players are being left on the bench that should not be.
   

Admission To League:

In order to be admitted to this league, you will need to sign up on the sign up/waiting list that will be on the ProFSL site. You will then need to submit an application in the list. I will provide you with what will need to be answered in the application. If multiple owners are on the waiting list, then it will not be first come first serve.

Each team has 2 IR spots. Players on IR will still count towards team salary. The total roster size is 12. During the regular season, you must have a minimum of 10 on your active roster at once.

Starting Slots- PG (1), SG (1), SF (1), PF (1), C (1), Utility (1)
IR- 2 slots
Bench- 6 slots
G-League- 5 slots


G-League:

Everyone can have a 5 player g-league. A max of 5 players. No one can have more. Players on the G-league do not count against the cap. To call up or send down someone, you have to post it in the transactions board. Any player who has played in 60 or more games will not be eligible for the G-league. Once a player reaches 60 he will either be called up or released. G-league players will be on your Fantrax minors roster, but you MUST post here that you want them moved to the active roster

*Once a player hits 60 games played, you will have a week to call them up or they will be released (and you will have to pay the penalty for that player's release unless player makes under $1m salary)

Once the playoffs start, you cannot call up a player from the G-league except for in the case of an injury replacement. You may still send one down to activate someone from the IR.

Roster Moves:

ALL contracts must be posted with EVERY roster move. Meaning contracts must be listed in the trade, the call-up/send down, the drop, etc. No roster move will be processed without the contract listed. This is needed to keep the salary correct on your roster page.

Salary Cap Structure:

The starting salary cap for the league was $110m. For 2024-25 season, salary cap will be increased by 50% of difference between starting CCD salary cap and 2024-25 real NBA salary cap (so if the cap for the 2024-25 NBA season is $40m higher than CCD, the salary cap will be $130m).
Starting from 2025-26 season, salary cap will match the real NBA cap of two seasons earlier on a rolling basis. Therefore 2025-26 cap is already set at $136m.

Teams are not allowed to go over the cap in future seasons. Must be salary complacent in all seasons.


Contracts:

Minimum salary per year is 400k or .4m. There is no maximum salary per year as long as a team can afford the player

Given amount per year

<= $1m, 2 years
$1.1m - $5.4m, 3 years
$5.5m - $10m, 4 years
> $10m, 5 years (the overall limit)

Releasing Players:

-You will incur a cap penalty for the release of ANY player. The hit will be 75% in the current season, 50% the following season, then 25% for each remaining season.
-Cap hits are rounded to the nearest $0.1m
-You may not bid on a player that you have released for a period of 30 days. If you resign a player, their original contract is restored. As clarified in the Questions/Suggestions section, you can still bid on a player you released within 30 days but if you win the player again, the original contract goes back in place (unless the new contract would be higher). This is done to prevent someone from cutting someone and getting them back at a discounted salary right away.
-Buy out of a player can be done by adding up all cap penalties for each year and taking the entire cap hit in one year (as long as you can afford).
-Any player making $1m or less is eligible to be free dropped. Anyone who is cut from the G-League will also not bring a cap penalty
-You may drop a retired player for free by posting  the drop in the Transactions board stating that the player is retired and you will be dropping him for free
-New owners to a team are allowed 1 free drop from their roster when they join. You can make a trade for a player then use the free drop on said player.

**Once the playoffs start, you can not buyout a contract. Ex. if you have a player under a $4m salary for 2 years, you can not pay the entire $4m penalty in that season once the playoffs start. This is done to prevent an owner from circumventing the system to gain extra cap space by paying extra salary in a year that have closed transactions already.

Schedule and Playoffs:

The regular season will last for 19 weeks with the playoffs beginning in week 20 and lasting until week 23. There will be 4 games a week, so the total number of games will be 76.

Playoffs
8 teams will make the playoffs from each conference just like as in the NBA. Playoff seeding will be just as it is in the NBA. A division winner is not guaranteed to get a top 4 seed in this league just like in the NBA but is guaranteed a playoff spot.

Round Matchups:

#1 vs #8
#4 vs #5
#2 vs #7
#3 vs #6

For playoff matchups, if a matchup ends in a tie, then the tiebreakers would be:
1. Higher Seed
2. Regular Season Record (only in finals)

Playoff seeding tiebreakers will be as follows:
1. Head to Head to Record
2. Division Record
3. Most Categories won during the season

Playoffs will take place on Fantrax in one league.


Free Agency

Free Agency will be year round except for the playoffs.  To be clear, this means FA is from the time it opens (a little bit after the rookie draft each year) till our playoffs start. FA doesn't open up as soon as the playoffs end.

Any player released or not resigned will be available for FA.

Bidding will be done in the transaction board and it is in terms of total contract value. Once you are the high bidder for 24 hours you will win the said player. After winning the player you have 72 hours to post the contract that abides by the Contract rules.

Bids less than $10m must be increased by at least $0.5m. Bids higher than $10m must be increased by at least $2m.

At no time may the team go over the cap. So if you have 2m in space you are not allowed to have bids that total more than 2m at any point.

At NO TIME may you edit a bid after it has been posted. If you edit a bid, it will be invalid.

*If you sign someone in FA to a 1 year deal, they will be ineligible for extension the next season and will automatically be a FA. This is done to prevent someone from signing a player in FA to a big 1 year deal and then get cheaper extension the next season.

Some clarifications on free agency:
- a team can bid on a player even if it has no roster spots available. Anyway the team can sign him only after it opens up a spot (if the team is no more interested in signing him after a winning bid, it is technically a release);
- a team cannot bid on a player if it does not have enough cap space to sign him. Teams with no cap space are allowed to bid only for G-league eligible players (no impact on salary cap) or post bids under $2.1mn of total contract value only if accompanied by a conditional drop of a 'free droppable' player with an annual salary equal or higher than the bidded player. The 'free droppable' player subject to the conditional release must be clearly communicated at the time of the bid and cannot be modified. No bids above $2m are allowed for teams without cap space (except for G-league eligible players);
- bids increased by less than $0.5m (under $10m) or $2m (above $10m) are automatically invalid and have no impact on the clock to calculate the 48 hours;
- bids made by teams that do not have enough cap space must be verified by LM or moderators. If an auction expires with a still active invalid bid related to cap space, the LM or moderators will extend the deadline;
- if an auction expires with the website down, the LM or moderators can decide to extend the deadline (it depends on for how long the site has been down)


Restricted Free Agency:

If a player is an RFA then bidding will be done for the said player. The team who currently owns the player does not need to bid. Once the high bid stands for 48 hours the owning team has the option to match the offer. If they match it, they keep the RFA for that cost. If they do not match it, the RFA then goes to the winning bid. The team will have 24hrs to match the offer or the player is lost.

An RFA may be extended before Feb. 1 of the last year of the contract. When extending an RFA you multiply is extension salary by 1.2 resulting in his salary.

In RFA, if a player is not bid on, they may be signed to the league minimum of $0.4m for 1 or 2 years or they can be released to FA.

RFA rights on a player can be traded up until the start of RFA. Once RFA starts, you cannot trade the RFA rights.


Extensions

Can only be given in the final year of a player's contract. Salary is based on player's top overall ranking from the last two seasons and is subject to maximum years and bonus guidelines, as follows. Before February 1st, extensions are previous 2 seasons. After February 1st, extensions use the current season and the previous season.
If you sign someone in FA to a 1 year deal, they will be ineligible for extension the next season and will automatically be a FA.

RFA Deadline is February 1st, every year
When resigning a RFA before the deadline you must multiply his contract by 1.2. The process works the same as regular extensions just multiplying the new salary by 1.2 to get their yearly salary.

Players salary table will be adjusted each season proportionally with the increase in salary cap



Trading

Trading is allowed obviously. Players may be moved for draft picks.  A posted trade will not be processed until 48 hours has passed regardless of whether or not the votes are there. (During the season) Trades have to be posted in the transactions board and must be agreed upon by both owners involved in a trade. This is how a trade must be posted:

Team A trades:
Kevin Durant 15.5M (2015/2016)

Team B trades:
Dwayne Wade 15.7M (2014/2015)

If a first round pick is included in the trade, the teams must clarify if the pick is protected or unprotected.

In a salary dump, every team involved in the trade must put at least one asset (pick or player) on the table.

Cash exchanges are no longer allowed (any player with a cash exchange already on the books will keep that cash exchange, we just won't allow any new cash exchanges).

If you acquire a player/pick in a trade, you cannot then flip that piece immediately unless the trade is posted as a multi-team deal. The trade acquiring the player/pick must be officially approved before you can post another trade involving the same player/pick. This is in place to prevent teams from immediately flipping pieces and then something happening to cause the original deal to be reworked or vetoed and creating a domino effect.

Trade Committee
Instead of having a trade committee, we will just be allowing the entire league to chime in on a trade. A trade will stay up for 48 hours (starting from when both parties have accepted a trade) and will process through as long as there aren't multiple vetoes (3 or more). Vetoes require an explanation though so a post just stating veto will not count.

Everyone needs to respond to trade offers or messages about being interested in a certain player/pick. It is rude to not respond to trade messages. Even a simple, "no thank you," would be fine. If I get multiple people telling me that someone is not responding to trade offers, then you will be liable to loss of draft picks

Draft Pick Trading

Draft picks are eligible to be traded up to 3 years out. Once a rookie draft completes, another year of draft picks will be eligible to trade.
Each first round pick traded 3 years out must have a top-5 protection. If the protection kicks-in, the team acquiring the pick would receive the first available first-round pick from the selling team in a subsequent year.

A team cannot be without a own first round pick for more than two consecutive years. Basically, at any given time, a team must have at least 1 own first round pick in the next 3 drafts. This rule will take effect just after the 2024 draft;

Rookie Draft

Rookie Draft
Every year we will hold the rookie draft after the NBA Draft. It will be 2 rounds as usual (with a max of 12 hours allotted between picks. After 12 hours, a team will be autopicked highest draft player). Teams may trade their draft picks for other draft picks or players.

To find rookie salaries, we will use cba faqs rookie salary scale. Any 2nd round pick will be $0.5m for 1,2, or 3 years (must be posted at time of decision to place draft picks on NBA roster or d-league. All 1st round picks will be placed on 2 year deals + 2 team options + RFA after the team options. 2nd rounds pick will be placed on 3 year deals at the $0.5m minimum.
The league will only use team options in the case of 1st round rookie contracts.

Draft Order

The Order for the playoff teams will be in reverse order of record (regardless of which teams play in the NBA Championship game). The order for the worst 14 (otherwise known as lottery teams) will be determined through the NBA Draft Lottery)

The lottery process will be tied to what happens in real life. Ex. if your team ends up with the 5th best lottery chances then your team will tie to whatever team has the 5th lottery chances in real life and draft where they land. So if that team lands the #1 pick from the 5th position, you will pick 5th.



Protected Draft Picks

We do allow protected draft picks in this league. All you need to do is post the protected pick terms in the trade.

Lottery Protected Pick- This is used to revert a pick back to an owner if the pick ends up being a certain pick within the lottery picks (I.E. first, top 2, top 3, top 4, top 5, etc.)

Rookie Contracts
   
Rookie Contract Scale will be using the contracts as listed on realgm for each respective year: https://basketball.realgm.com/nba/info/rookie_scale
We will take the average of a player's contract over their 4 year rookie contract. The 2020 draft 1st round picks will be put on the contracts using 2020-21 NBA rookie scale, 2021 draft using 2021-22 NBA rookie scale, and so on.
   
All 1st round picks are placed on 4 year deals (2 years followed by a 2 year team option with RFA following the 2 year team option).

All 2nd round picks get $0.5m contracts for up to 3 years

Deadlines

All deadlines for Trades, Extensions, etc are set in stone. If you do not make the move you want to by then, you will not get another chance to do them. The only ones that get an exception are those that join just after a deadline has passed. However not every new owner will get an exception to the deadlines. They will only get to surpass the deadline if the previous owner was inactive at the time of the deadline.

Switching Teams

When we have an opening in the league, an owner may switch from his current team to that opening pending approval from the moderators of the league. The only restriction on this would be during the scoring season, an owner may not switch teams to go to a higher record team. It is fine to switch to a team with a worse record but not a better record so as to prevent an owner form switching to a higher team to get into the playoffs. Offseason you may switch to any open team with approval of the moderators

With the major league baseball season about a quarter over as we head towards the Memorial Day Weekend, we came up with some interesting facts and stats that you may (or may not) be aware of. They are random and shouldn't have too much bearing on your rosters as they're just here to hopefully make you say, "Wow, I didn't know that!" We featured this last season and it was a huge success so back by popular demand, here are some of this season's most interesting facts & stats...

DID YOU KNOW as of Saturday, May 25th, 2013...

1. That 34 year old Vernon Wells and 35 year old Carlos Beltran have more home runs (20) so far this season than Jay Bruce, Josh Hamilton and Ryan Howard...combined (each has 6)?

2. That in their last four games, the Baltimore Orioles have hit 13 home runs?

3. That Yankees DH Travis Hafner, who doesn't play everyday, has the third most RBIs on the team?

Quarterback - Billy

Must Start: Tom Brady :NE: vs :JAC:
Brady will look to rebound after throwing 2 INTs last week against :SFO: and what better team to rebound against than a horrible Jaguars defense. Brady will have a field day against their defense throwing for at least 250 yards and 2 TDs.

Must Sit: Russell Wilson :SEA-NFL: vs :SFO:
Wilson has been impressive thus far but will hit a wall known as the 49ers defense this weekend. The 49ers don't give up a lot of yards to opposing offenses and that should continue this weekend.

Sleeper: Greg McElroy :NYJ: vs :SDG:
McElroy gets the nod this week over Mark Sanchez against an underachieving Chargers team. He won't light it up but could still have a solid game against San Diego

Running Back - JMAC

Must Start: Adrian Peterson :MIN-NFL: vs :HOU-NFL:
IS there any doubt that he is THE must start player period at this stage. Chip on his shoulder and going for the record. Over 1300 yards in his last 8 games, enough said. He will do what he does, period!!!!
Other Must Starts- Alfred Morris, WAS vs PHI, CJ Spiller, BUF vs MIA

Must Sit: Chris Johnson :TEN: vs :GB:
I know he looked to have a good game last week but that one 94 yd td run was all he did, other than that he was limited to less than 2 ypc. Look for GB to shut him down and keep on rolling.
Other Must Sits- Trent Richardson, CLE vs DEN, Beanie Wells, AZ vs CHI

Sleeper: Vick Ballard :IND: vs :KAN:
Had his first 100 yard game last week and this is a clinching playoff berth game for IND, so look for them to put up a solid game plan with Ballard getting his work in vs a suspect KC def.

Wide Receivers - Mike

Must Start: Dez Bryant :DAL: vs :NO:
88 has been living up to the hype as of late, has he finally figured it all out? Who knows, but he's fighting through injury, and making the big catches, the Boys are starting to click.

Must Sit: Michael Crabtree :SFO: vs :SEA-NFL:
On the Crabtree bandwagon after his big game in Boston? Well jump now, he does nothing against the Seahawks and their big physical corners.

Sleeper: Jeremy Kerley :NYJ: vs :SDG:
So the Jets finally decide to let the sound, yet vanilla McElroy play ball, it's going to be a good thing for the Jets pass catchers, even Braylon Edwards might make an appearance.

Tight Ends - Eric

Must Start: Tony Gonzalez :ATL-NFL: vs :DET-NFL:
This year has been much nicer to Gonzalez owners with 8 TD's and almost 900 yds. This week shouldn't be any different. The Lions have allowed 6 TD's over the past 8 weeks. Feel free to deploy Gonzo as you normally would.

Must Sit: Jermaine Gresham :CIN-NFL: vs :PIT-NFL:
While Gresham has been a solid option over the past few weeks, this week he has a tough matchup. The Steelers have been really good against opposing TE in allowing the 3rd least fantasy points. They have allowed 5 TD all year and allowed over 70 yds in just ONE week (last week vs Dallas). Look else where if possible.

Sleeper: Kyle Rudolph :MIN-NFL: vs :HOU-NFL:
Although Rudolph has been relatively quiet over the past few week, this he week he has a good matchup. The Texans give up the 6th most fantasy points to opposing TE's. 5 TD's over as many week and over 50 yds rec in 4 of those 5 weeks. Rudolph can guide you through a foggy Christmas Eve.

Defense - Billy

Must Start: Chicago :CHI: vs :ARI:
The Bears defense has fallen off as of late, but they should be able to rebound against a horrible Cardinals offense.

Must Sit: Seattle :SEA-NFL: vs :SFO:
The Seattle defense has been dominant this year, but that probably will not continue this week against the 49ers. San Fran's offense has been playing well lately and even the Seattle defense probably won't stop that.

Sleeper: Washington :WAS-NFL: vs :PHI-NFL:
Washington's defense has played better as of late (mainly in the 2nd half) but they will be going up against an Eagles offense that has made any defense look great lately. Last time these 2 played, the Skins defense held the Philly offense to only 6 points, 257 yards, and forced three turnovers.
