All of know that the key to a successful league is having active GMs. It promotes competitiveness and enhances our fantasy fun. As a moderator, I try to remind, encourage and support each and every GM so that we have a fully active league. Sometimes, however, I have to recruit and replace because a given GM has either abandoned his team or is so inactive that the team suffers from neglect. I don't usually offer more than a simple welcome when we have a GM change, but in this case, I believe a more in depth explanation is needed.
The team in question is the Miami Marlins. This franchise has suffered from a revolving door of GMs for a number of years and that situation has arisen again. I recruited a longtime ProFSL GM, Freddie W. (kungfuwig) to return to FGM after a four year hiatus. Ironically, Freddie was replaced some four years ago because of inactivity when he was the Braves GM. However, he seemed genuinely interested in returning to FGM and rebuilding the Marlins. Those good intentions have apparently subsided and he has not logged in to the FGM board since the middle of April. He has not responded to numerous PMs, some trade inquiries and some "are you still with us". So a change is being initiated for the good of the league.
As we all know, the pandemic, and a variety of periodic site crashes, have been challenging to us all. Such was the case with Dennis M. (dennymcc23). Originally the Padres GM for many years, Denny is now returning to FGM as the new GM of the Miami Marlins. We all know about the coaching carousel in MLB, and we have also experienced it here in FGM. There are various teams who have GMs that were formerly associated the different franchises, and through it all, we have continued to thrive as a league. Sit back and think about that for awhile...and after doing so, welcome back Dennis M. (dennymcc23) as the new GM of the Miami Marlins.
