Franchise NHL: Completed Transactions / MTL and SJ agree to trade« on: August 07, 2019, 03:06:09 PM »
San Jose Sharks make a trade that made too much sense from the standpoint of our strategy of build a strong young core. Were moving soon to be 32yo Price for 25yo two-time Stanley Cup champion Matt Murray!
Trade to SJ Matt Murray, $0.4m (2016-2019-EL) extension = 8.1m (2019-2024) Trade to MTL Carey Price, $10.4m (2016-2021) Mordecai to confirm. 73

Add the dynamic duo of Andrighetto and Rattie who jumped to the KHL.

Franchise NHL: Completed Transactions / San Jose Buyout« on: July 18, 2019, 09:55:23 PM »
Lucic had a shortlived stay in San Jose.
After assessing his productivity relative to cap hit, we feel Milan does not warrant his 7.3m deal and we have decided to buyout and release the veteran Winger. Milan Lucic, $7.3m (2017-2021) BO for $4.8m (2018-2021). Then there's this pair that bailed and sign with KHL teams. San Jose buys out the pair immediately after contracts roll over: Sven Andrighetto, $0.4m (2016-2019-EL) 0.6m (2019-2021) BO -- 0.4m (2019-2020) - 1yr b/o Ty Rattie, $0.6m (2018-2020) 0.6m (2019-2021) BO -- 0.4m (2019-2020) - 1yr b/o 75
Franchise NHL / Re: Seattle to name Francis GM!?« on: July 18, 2019, 08:47:40 PM »
The Darling deal was pretty awful.
I'm not sure Francis has the experienxe to lead the expansion process in Seattle. Yzerman or Holland could've been an exciting choice. 76

Lucic could possibly maybe give my Sharks a small up tick in production if Edmonton can ship him off to Vancouver to relive his junior glory days when he was a Giant! At least that's the hope by acquiring Milan.

Franchise NHL: Completed Transactions / Re: cats moves« on: June 22, 2019, 04:41:00 PM »Antti Niemi, $5.5m (2018-2022) will get a 1yr non-NHL KHL b/o at a cost of $8.8m (2018-2019) I would've bought out Niemi but I couldn't use my cap overage for a buyout so the trade was the next best thing. 78

San Jose Sharks make this trade to unload an anchor of a contract that was supposed to get us some points for at least one more season but instead Niemi has bolted to the KHL and that $5.5 million cap hit for another 4yrs seems too heavy for our franchise to carry. I know the boys in Buffalo are laughing that they unloaded Antti sooner than later. We will take a serviceable contract like Lucic but maybe we'll "Corey Perry" him in the 2020 offseason if he can't get it together in 2019-20.
Trade to SJ Milan Lucic, $7.3m (2017-2021) Contract unloaded Round 2 - 2019 (from *) Round 4 - 2019 Trade to Florida Antti Niemi, $5.5m (2018-2022) Contract dump Kole Sherwood, $0.6m (2018-2020) PigsRule to confirm. 79
Franchise NHL / Hughes #1 to Devils, but Kakko drafted by a better team.« on: June 22, 2019, 01:06:10 PM »
Unless Jack Hughes can carry that Devils franchise on his back (Taylor Hall hasn't been able to so far), I think Kaapo Kakko landed in the better situation with the Rangers who are trying to accelerate their rebuilding efforts. Both teams need a true starting goalie to get over the rebuilding hump.
