Congratulations CaliHkyGuy / NEW YORK RANGERS :NYR:!

The Rangers claim their first ever Franchise NHL Presidents Trophy going 79-5 during the 2022-23 Franchise NHL regular season.  :judge: :win:  It was a four team race with :NYR: NYR leading from start to finish with :MON-NHL: :ANA: and :COL-NHL: chasing NYR right down to the wire.  :judge:

Rangers built their contender through wheelin' n dealin' with acquisitions like of Vasilevskiy, Logan Thomspon, Forsling, Lehkenon, and Dobson anchoring the team for years to come.

The Top 8 teams during the regular season were:

  • :NYR: 158 ponits
  • :MON-NHL: 152
  • :ANA: 148
  • :COL-NHL: 138
  • :NAS: 129
  • :LAK: 126

Possible upsets (AND REASONS WHY) in FNHL Round 1:
  • :WIN: v :ANA: -- WildCard 2 in the West :WIN: Winnipeg could surprise the top team in the West :ANA: who finished 1st in Pacific and #2 overall in FNHL. Jets have been posting strong numbers leading up to the Playoffs. But Ducks are no pushover by any stretch,
  • :EDM: v :COL-NHL: -- Western Wildcard #1 :EDM: Edmonton has the firepower to surprise any team but it would be a big upset to knock off the #1 Central team, :COL-NHL: Colorado who seem poised to have another strong post-season run in 2023,
  • :PIT-NHL: v :CAR-NHL: -- Not a huge upset but :PIT-NHL: Pittsburgh has been trending strong over the past month and could overtake the #2 Metro seed :CAR-NHL: Canes and Carolina just lost Andrei Svechnikov (knee/ACL) for the rest of the playoffs,
  • :DAL-NHL: v :NAS: -- Another potential mild upset could be #3 seeded Central :DAL-NHL: upsetting #2 Central :NAS: given Dallas's strong month long push heading into the playoffs but Nashville, last year's Presidents Trophy winner in 2021/22 aren't going without a fight.

Teams with highest risk of being upset with only 2 days to play out ROUND 1:

#1 Highest Risk -- WildCard2 Western :WIN: 75.85 leads 66.35 :ANA: #1 Pacific
* Perhaps the most devastating upset would be Jets beating Ducks given the Ducks fought for the Presidents' Trophy all season, finished 3rd overall in the regular season and was the 2021/22 FNHL Finalist losing to league Champion NYR by less than 13 points. Jets made a strong push in their final 8 games to clinch a WildCard spot and have been trending strong with high weekly point totals.

#2 Highest Risk -- #3 Metro :PIT-NHL: 57.15 leads 38.8 :CAR-NHL: #2 Metro

#3 Highest Risk -- #3 Atlantic :BOS-NHL: 66.1 leads 62.4 :BUF-NHL: #2 Atlantic

Another AT RISK MATCHIUP-- #3 Pacific :CLG: 71.1 slightly trails 76.0 :LAK: #2 Pacific

  • dbreer23: Take two to tango, though. Most owners with adequate or surplus SP aren't interested in prospects as they're trying to win now.

  • Braves155: My issue in LIVE currently is having Strider/Alcantara/Giolito all on the long shelf, so I am more retooling than rebuilding
    Yesterday at 02:46:48 PM
  • Daddy: Also agreed. Top quality pitching probably means not much depth. A few injuries can challenge you. Pitching other than top end pitching has been devalued in fantasy. Everyone wants the stud.

  • Braves155: But I myself could use some time on a nudie island with some hot women
    Yesterday at 02:49:45 PM
  • Daddy: I here to tell you that ALL major league pitching is good pitching. A great hitter beats a terrible pitcher just 3 out of 10 times. Which means the worst pitchers > the greatest hitters.

  • Brent: Greg Maddux had the best outlook.  He viewed himself as tye dealer/house and you had to beat him.  Just like in the casino, the house nearly always wins.
  • Brent: He had that view b/c of his father who was a blackjack dealer in Vegas.
  • Daddy: Yes @Brent!! That is it exactly. Pitching is the house & it always wins in the end.

  • Daddy: There shouldn't be many innings available in FA in dynasty fantasy leagues IMO. Thats guaranteed money! To hell with High A ball.

  • Braves155: The problem with the minors is not the system as a whole, it is some Farm Systems are more 'elite' at being able to produce talent than others. If you look across MLB teams you can pretty easily tell the great systems from the weaker systems and talent development
    Yesterday at 05:57:14 PM
  • Braves155: With regard to pitching in the Minors...there is  method to the madness. It is all about what you make of it tho. I agree that it can seem certain type arms in the minors are a dime a dozen

  • Daddy: Mr Braves you are my guy. There isnt anything wrong with minor league studs or flops. I get it in REAL baseball.
  • Daddy: This is fantasy baseball. We dont generate revenue selling prospects and merchandising. Our top farms dont get a write up in Sports Illustrated.
