Kansas City Royals History :KC:

2020: 7th Central Division (19-41)
The :KC: are still in rebuild mode, but they are progressing. The :KC:  patience is paying off as some of their young talent are starting to develop, with more on the horizon.

2019: 4th in AL Central (53-103)
The :KC: concentrated on more acquiring prospects and simply relying on the current veterans who were under contract.  There is a good mix of talent on the roster.  MLB caliber prospects are what everyone seeks in a rebuild, and it seems like the :KC: roster has some budding players who are going to be reliable contributors to future success.

2018: 5th in AL Central (44-118)
This was a bit of a transitional year for the :KC:. Sifting through an inherited roster that is suffering from neglect is an unenviable challenge.  But the new GM made some trades, bought out some contracts, and simply released some players throughout the season.  In doing so, however, a rebuilding plan was initiated that was committed to acquiring young talent.

2017: 5th in AL Central (64-98)

2016: 5th in AL Central (64-98)

2015: 5th in AL Central (64-98)

2014: 5th in AL Central (64-98)

2013: 5th in AL Central (64-98)

2012: 2nd in AL Central (89-71)
The :KC: lineup featured David Wright and Mike Moustakas and its rotation relied on Tim Hudson.  But there were some holes throughout the roster that need to be filled if the :KC: expect to make a run to the playoffs.

2011: 2nd in AL Central (91-71)
Freddy turned around the Royals thanks to the acquisition of Prince Fielder.  Solid performance all around kept the surprising Royals on top of the AL Central for much of the season.  Only in the last week did Kansas City fall to Cleveland to finish 2nd in the division and miss the playoffs.

2010: 5th in AL Central (64-98)
The off-season brought a new GM, Kyle Miller, who made a few trades with some NL Central teams to bring in prospects and depth.  Unfortunately, he fell asleep at the wheel and didn't sign players before the deadline.  He was replaced in the middle of free agency with Freddy Wander.

Freddy decided to put in his own three year rebuilding plan.  Many contracts expiring in 2010 and 2011 went in an out the door including the likes of Billy Butler.  In return, Freddy built one of the top three farm systems in the league with many of those prospects knocking on the door of the majors.

2009: 3rd in AL Central (75-87)
I suppose you could call it a promising campaign when the Royals aren't in last place.  Jason did nothing to help the team, but the solid core of players such as Zach Grienke and Billy Butler kept this team afloat going into an uncertain off-season.

Management

Daniel D. (dedreger) [11/26/17 - Present]
Freddy Wander (kungfuwig) [2/25/10 - 11-25/17]
Kyle Miller (kmiller0509) [10/31/09 - 2/22/10]
Jason Quint (mcsarge21) [7/1/09 - 10/24/09]

  • Daddy: If i have 10 top level AA prospects each in the top 10 of the franchise vs one middle of the road pitcher like Cal Quantrill (or pick a guy) which one of those two packages are more valuable?
  • Daddy: If you think its the AA guys send me a pm.
  • Daddy: Also... Ive got a nice private island full of beautiful women to sell you. Pay me upfront and i will send you its coordinates. We call it the Virgin Daddy Islands. $5k reserves it for your future.
  • dbreer23: Take two to tango, though. Most owners with adequate or surplus SP aren't interested in prospects as they're trying to win now.
  • Daddy: Agreed. But most does not equal all.
  • Braves155: My issue in LIVE currently is having Strider/Alcantara/Giolito all on the long shelf, so I am more retooling than rebuilding
    Today at 02:46:48 PM
  • Daddy: Also agreed. Top quality pitching probably means not much depth. A few injuries can challenge you. Pitching other than top end pitching has been devalued in fantasy. Everyone wants the stud.
  • Braves155: But I myself could use some time on a nudie island with some hot women
    Today at 02:49:45 PM
  • Daddy: I here to tell you that ALL major league pitching is good pitching. A great hitter beats a terrible pitcher just 3 out of 10 times. Which means the worst pitchers > the greatest hitters.
  • STLBlues91: Ill be around the rest of the day for any talks
    Today at 03:25:59 PM
