Diving to the Playoffs
« on: February 19, 2018, 01:30:23 PM »
Gold teams have earned a 1st round bye.  Green teams are locked into a playoff spot.  Top 10 teams make the playoffs with the 1st 6 getting that important 1st round bye.

5 playoff spots have been locked up.  1 First round bye has been earned.  Still alot of movement can happen in the 4 through 16 spots.

1    Winnipeg Jets   (35-5) -  Went 1-1 last week.  Coming down to seeding now.  They are looking at 1, 2 or 3

2    St. Louis Blues   (32-8) - 2-0 last week to lock in a 1st round bye.  Fought off both Washington and Winnipeg in a great week. Toronto/Vancouver and Carolina/Pittsburgh are left.  Still have an outside shot at the #1 seed, but really looking like a 2 or 3 and only devastating results bringing them down to 4 or 5.

3    Carolina Hurricanes   (32-8) - 2-0 last week to lock in a 1st round bye.  Remaining against Boston/Tampa and Detroit/St.Louis.  Seeding looking like 2 or 3.

4    Buffalo Sabres   (26-14) - They went 1-1 last week to guarantee themselves into the playoffs.  Games remain against Arizona/Montreal, Colorado/Winnipeg.  Possible seeds are  4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10  which shows how much work there is left to do.

5    Colorado Avalanche   (29-11) - 2-0 last week added to tie breakers gets them locked in for a 1st round bye. They went full Super Saiyan with 228 points this past week and Raanta stonewalling people.  Remaining games Arizona/Edmonton, Buffalo/Montreal.  Possible seeding could have them as high as 2 or 3 or down to 4,5 or 6 as well.

6    Anaheim Ducks   (27-13)  -  The rock hard hockey erection the Ducks have had going went completely geriatric with an 0-2 record last week.  Remaining games against Winnipeg/Washington and Toronto/Vancouver could really damage the Ducks seed. Could go up to 4, but also down to 6, 7, 8 or 9.  Things are trending south.

7    Vancouver Canucks   (25-15) - Went a bigly 2-0 last week and also helping the Bruins inch closer to misery.  Remaining games against Detroit/St.Louis, Anaheim/Edmonton.  With Scheifele back and destroying worlds this Canucks team is one to avoid at all costs come playoff time they had 226 points last week.

8    Edmonton Oilers   (24-16) Previously 9th  - 2-0 last week to snatch back the 8th spot.   Winnipeg/Colorado and Washington/Vancouver is going to make it very interesting the next couple weeks.  Seeding could be 5,6,7,8,9,10 or our of the playoffs at 11,12.

9   Philadelphia Flyers   (24-16)  Previously 8th -   1-1 last week.  Remaining games against Colorado/Winnipeg, and Vancouver/Washington. Seeding could be 5,6,7,8,9,10 or our of the playoffs at 11,12.

10     Boston Bruins   (22-18)  Previously 10th  -  A disappointing 1-1 keeping themselves on the knife edge or glory or agony.  Remaining games Carolina/Toronto and Pittsburgh/Chicago will keep our Commish biting those nails until the very end. Seeding 7,8,9,10 or out of the playoffs at 11,12,13.

11    Toronto Maple Leafs   (22-18) Previously 12th - A tour de force 2-0 last week to vault them into playoff contention.  Remaining games against Boston/St. Louis and Anaheim/Detroit.  It really could come down to this weeks game against Boston.  Possible seeds 7,8,9,10 or out of the playoffs at 11,12,13

12    Montreal Canadiens   (21-19) Previously 13th - 2-0 last week to push them back into the playoff hunt.  Buffalo/Las Vegas and Colorado/Philadelphia.  That is a pretty tough schedule.  Getting in will be an uphill climb.  Seeding could be 8,9,10 or out of the playoffs at 11,12,13

13    Washington Capitals   (20-20) Previously 11th-    0-2 last week.  Detroit/Anaheim and Edmonton/Arizona gives them a real shot at that 10 seed.  Possible seeding 8,9,10 or out of the playoffs at 11,12,13

14    Tampa Bay Lightning   (17-23)  0-2 last week to get bounced out of playoff contention.  In in all the way to the final weeks.  A solid year.

The 4 division winners get the top 4 seeds. So Buffalo is currently the 4th Seed with Colorado being the 5th seed currently. Carolina and Winnipeg are locked into the top 3 seeds at this point.

Team is slowly returning to health... Tough couple of weeks ahead though looking at those matchups. May need some help from other teams to beat the teams around me in the standings!

Maybe I'll get Schneider, Kreider, Andrighetto and maybe even Jeff Carter back over the next couple of weeks. Make things a bit more interesting for the playoff push.

  • dbreer23: Take two to tango, though. Most owners with adequate or surplus SP aren't interested in prospects as they're trying to win now.
  • Daddy: Agreed. But most does not equal all.

  • Braves155: My issue in LIVE currently is having Strider/Alcantara/Giolito all on the long shelf, so I am more retooling than rebuilding
    Yesterday at 02:46:48 PM
  • Daddy: Also agreed. Top quality pitching probably means not much depth. A few injuries can challenge you. Pitching other than top end pitching has been devalued in fantasy. Everyone wants the stud.

  • Braves155: But I myself could use some time on a nudie island with some hot women
    Yesterday at 02:49:45 PM
  • Daddy: I here to tell you that ALL major league pitching is good pitching. A great hitter beats a terrible pitcher just 3 out of 10 times. Which means the worst pitchers > the greatest hitters.

  • Brent: He had that view b/c of his father who was a blackjack dealer in Vegas.
  • Daddy: Yes @Brent!! That is it exactly. Pitching is the house & it always wins in the end.

  • Braves155: The problem with the minors is not the system as a whole, it is some Farm Systems are more 'elite' at being able to produce talent than others. If you look across MLB teams you can pretty easily tell the great systems from the weaker systems and talent development
    Yesterday at 05:57:14 PM
  • Braves155: With regard to pitching in the Minors...there is  method to the madness. It is all about what you make of it tho. I agree that it can seem certain type arms in the minors are a dime a dozen

  • Daddy: Mr Braves you are my guy. There isnt anything wrong with minor league studs or flops. I get it in REAL baseball.
  • Daddy: This is fantasy baseball. We dont generate revenue selling prospects and merchandising. Our top farms dont get a write up in Sports Illustrated.
