Swinging for the fence on this 1. Could easily regret few years down the line giving up the cheap cost control upside of Dejong/Aguillar and having to compromise on future money. Still Carptenter has become a star so decided to pay up and getting him covered this year is still very helpful allowing me to fill other needs via FA

Reds agree this trade I wanted to fill some holes with younger guys I do it. I'm a fan of both De jong and aguilar. I like Aguilar home run ability. I hate having to move Carpentor but having him in the long run doesn't help me with my rebuild of reds. Paying his whole contract isn't a concern this yr because I already have 77m in cap this yr and I'm looking at the future cap space more. Castillo was on the move no matter what I wasn't going to resign him when I can go in ftee agency and sign cheaper catchers. I also like the young specs I'm getting. They will help retool my minors
