Vancouver & Edmonton
« on: May 29, 2012, 12:34:21 PM »
Edm Rec's
Taylor Hall, $3.8m (2012-13)
David Jones, $3.0m (2013-14)

Van Rec's
Ryan Getzlaf, $5.3m (2012-13)
Duncan Siemans, N/C (0 games)

Hall = (2.14 fps per game 2011 season, yes he is young but hes also injury prone.  He is in his last year on contract so he could be expensive to resign or he could be horrible this year with these injurys he keeps getting and have zero value like he has now.

Jones = 1.32 fps per game on average in 2011 season and 1.55 fps's in 2010 season on average.  He is just to much for me to keep around especially with Landey sitting in the minors begging to come up

Getzlaf = 1.69 fps on average in 2011 season and it was an off year for Getzlaf and the Anaheim team as a hole, as in 2010 season he got 2.45 fps on average, and 2.28 fps on average in 2009 season.

Siemens = (#11 Overall pick in 2011 Entry Draft)...Considering how hard and how highly the league holds 1st rounders, this would have been quite a pick to have landed last year, so I consider it 12 months later just as great to the future of Vancouver.

Siemens gets to join Akeson, Irving, Hamilton and Tyler Johnson in a nice minor future in Vancouver.

Now the deal breaker for me....

This saves me just enough cap with the other deal I did in Ottawa to bring up Landeskog which closes the gap in the FP's shown above.  I explained to Drew when I asked to join that it was a massive goal, basically being my number #1 goal to bring up Lankeskog and to strengthin my defensive core and my minor core without damaging my competeing chances for this year or the years to come.  I believe with the three deals I made that I've done that....yes I need more depth and other key things in spots, but the clay has been molded,  the future has been set and possibley just possibley Vancouver could actually win a stanley cup one day if this continues the way its going (cause they sure won't in real life, haha)

I hope I didn't over do my explaination here of everything, but I figured since its Hall I better be clear why I moved him :-)

Cheers Drew,

Bridgestone

I confirm. I finish my trio of Oilers young guns and also take a chance on Jones that he comes back next season. I send out Getzlaf who will have a much better season and Siemens who could be a great defensemen but may take awhile to develop. I just really wanted Hall and that is basically why I did this deal.

This is a steal for Drew. Getzlaf best days are long gone. Commish, you are in contention for another championship.

:iatp: No doubt that :EDM: wins this deal but it still passible as Getzlaf still has a lot more to give in his career.

I was really back-and-forth about this deal every time I look at it. IMO Drew wins, and by a big margin as I am not that high on Siemens, personally. BUT, what pushes me for this is Vancouver gets the cap space to free up Landeskog which is arguably his best player. Also with Hall likely needing a 3-4 M raise after next year it's all things I've had to consider. Hall for Getz is in favor of Hall as well as Jones for Siemens is for Jones but the cap freedom and future outlook I will approve.

I do think VAN should have maybe gotten a draft pick or another decent prospect, although!

Thank you gentleman for seeing the bigger picture here...Hall doesn't equal a win in this league.  He is a good player and young thats for sure...I got what I needed in a nice talent in Getz who has LOTS left and a nice spec with the cap freedom to bring up Landey...thanks for seeing it :)
