Van and Ott Exchange Future Superstars!!!!!
« on: May 29, 2012, 04:23:38 AM »
The :OTT: are extremely pleased to announce this trade..........

To:VAN:  Dougie Hamilton
              Milan Jurcina 1.1m
              Evgeni Nabokov .8m
              Leland Irving .5m
              1st Rnd  ( PHIL)

To:OTT: Cory Schnieder 2m
             Bobby Butler .7m

Well what can I say about this deal!!! I've hung on to Hamilton for as long as I could.I knew that if I was going to get a starter I would have to give him up......and that day has come. The recent trades I've made were made to go after a starter and to get Schnids is really over the top. We all know what he will become in the NHL and I think I paid a fare price considering Hamilton will be a stellar defenceman one day. Originally we agreed on a 2nd pick going to Van...........but as I got home I relised I don't have a 2nd rnd pick so I am giving him a 1st round pick for these reasons........

a) I can
b) earlier in the week......Bridgstone promised me something.......and he is a man of his word.

On that note I want to sincerly thank him for giving me a chance to make an offer and eventually work out a deal. I wish him and his team all the best moving forward!!!

I spent a great deal of time yesterday studying the point system here since my veto-ed trade and made sure I got the proper value for the greatness that is Cory Schd's (skills, contract, age).

Abbyroad seriously man you are a fantastic guy to deal with just like Norray was.  I want to thank you for giving me this fantastic deal.

I don't even know where to begin on each piece I got...I seriously think based on the knowledge this league has that the deal speaks for itself.

Its a great day for Vancouver, Ottawa and this league as a competeing hole.

Cheers Abby :-)

I feel :OTT: might be giving a little too much here?

Because I see this thread being viewed many times with no comments from the TC, I thought I would add further in put to allow you to make a more informed decision so you are able to either pass or veto the trade you see in front of you. This is not an attempt to sway your decisions in any way but merly a better explanation on what transpiered and my thought process along the way. I have always had great respect for the TC as you are all very knowlable and fair.

It didn't take me long to conclude that a team MUST have 2 starting goalies in order to compete on a weekly basis.( That is why they are such a value here in BY) I for one found out the hard way, sometimes loosing by as little as .45 of a point. For those of you that have 2 starters you really can't relate to this commentary and those of you that have tried to aquire one.......... know how incredibly hard it is. I always thought that if I ever get the chance I would blow up my whole team in order to do so. Those of you that know me here, know that I'm always looking to improve my team........Sometimes I win........Sometimes I loose.........But I do try hard. I did try on two occasions but was unlucky in both.

I don't want to discuss other goalie deals and will stick with the one in front of you..........as I can comment 100% on it....... and only find that to be fair. From the out set I knew I was in competion. I did't know who exactly ( and still don't) But i knew I wasn't alone. It was at that point I decided that Scnids would be mine. I thought....." Your'e not going to win this time, you've won enough!!!" In the end it was enough......and maybe too much for many on the TC to live with. When we talk about COST..... what this cost me, I purposely made earlier trades to make sure I had the right assets to get a deal done. For me.......It really only cost me Hamilton. I still ahve some great assets and 8 picks in this years draft to go out and pick up some good NHL ready players. I've  done my homework and know that some teams are not that fortunate. Between the draft and FA I can assure you my team will be ready to compete and will certainly look different than the one you see now.

In closing I would like to add that I will always live by the TC's decision and ask that you base the out come on  these merrits alone and not on any past trades. The Ottawa Senators are happy to give what it took to get this deal done and will look at this trade in the future as a big stepping stone for the future of my hockey club. I hope I have shed some light on the reasons for this trade and look forward to your comments...............AR :toth:

In my opinion, you can never give enough for a starting goalie. But this is a very solid return. :iatp:

:iatp: I think it's a good return for one of the best young G's in the league. Irving hasn't proved anything yet in the NHL and Nabokov might only have a year, maybe 2 left in the NHL. Top D spec and some role players. I think this is a fair haul. VAN fills out his roster and Abby get's his coveted 2nd goalie

Good Deal IMO

  • Daddy: Also agreed. Top quality pitching probably means not much depth. A few injuries can challenge you. Pitching other than top end pitching has been devalued in fantasy. Everyone wants the stud.

  • Braves155: The problem with the minors is not the system as a whole, it is some Farm Systems are more 'elite' at being able to produce talent than others. If you look across MLB teams you can pretty easily tell the great systems from the weaker systems and talent development
