Title: Minny and Anaheim Trade

:MDA: receives:

David Backes, $6.1m (2012-13)
Steve Montador, $1.5m (2012-13)

:MIN-NHL: receives:

Brad Marchand, $3.9m (2012-13)
Alex Tanguay, $3.5m (2013-14)
Nathan Beaulieu, $1.5m (2014-15)


I do this to add to my already stellar RW position getting an absolute Stud in Backes. Montador is just a cap filler to make this deal work as he will likely get waived to the minors to boost my limited cap space.

The part of the deal i HATE is losing marchy as I am a huge fan and for his 3.9 cap hit he produces a tonne at C & LW dual elig but I am solid at C and pretty decent at LW so I figured he was expendible. Even though Tanguay still put up great FP's he was a tad expensive for a cap strapped team in ANA so he was put in the deal to make cap work as well. Hard to let Beaulieu go as I truly think he will be a SUPER STUD in this league but I had to take the gamble to get Backes who i have wanted since he was in VAN.

:MIN-NHL: confirms this deal.

I like getting Marchand.  He gives me some great flexibility with my forwards.  Don't love Tanguay, but he gives me another usable forward.  Beaulieu is a good spec that helps my minors out.  Overall, it gives me more depth without losing a great player.
