Title: Anaheim and Vancouver make a deal
Post by: Tyler on October 30, 2013, 07:01:23 PM
Round 1 (DALLAS)
Round 1 (MINN)
Round 2 (Vancouver)
Mason Raymond, $2.0m (2013-14)
Niklas Hjalmarsson, $1.4m (2014-15)
Nick Bjugstad, $0.2m (2014-15)

for

Jhonas Enroth, $1.2m (2014-15)
Zach Bogosian, $3.2m (2015-16)
Cedrick Desjardins, $0.2m (2013-14)
:ANA: Round 4

Phew, Gilly came in hot and heavy for a goalie and he made me move one. I hate to move Enroth as Miller is gonna be gone soon and Enroth is the incumbent starter but I love the youth Gilly offered up. I'm also giving a stud dman and another great G spec tht will likey be in the show soon as well.

This helps me now and later so I had t accept.

Thanks Gilly, enjoy having an actual goalie lol

All i can do now boys is hold onto a few studs and a couple youth pieces and gather goalie hopefuls, I wont win this year obviously and may not compete very well next who knows, but im here for the long haul and one day I will get mine lol!

Thanks Tyler for putting up with my countlesssssssssss pm's :)

I hope the TC really thinks about this deal before voting, and think about how valuable G's are in this league.  It looks like Tyler is getting a truckload, but I actually like the deal for both teams.  The upgrade of Bogosian also helps the deal.  Tyler definitely wins the deal, but...

I'm not on the TC (and don't want to be) so I'm free to plug my opinion here without too much thought. Personally I think Gilly is overpaying. I'm comparing this back to my Rinne deal (that everyone approved). At the time Rinne was a clear #1 elite starter and I got 2 decent roster players along with a 1st and a 2nd.

I'm not saying this isn't what Gilly needs....I like that it's Enroth and he already has Hackett. So clearly this is a good piece for him to acquire. That said I'd like to see one of the 1st round picks removed from the cost.

I appreciate the input, to be honst.

But in all seriousness, I wouldn't do that deal without the 2 1st rounders. I am giving a Goalie, who will likely be a starter for BUF soon and avg over 5.5fpg, as well as a stud, young dman signed to a long contract and a great cap hit! This along with Cedric Desjardins and the pick I think it is a fair valuation for what i get in return. I understand 1st rounders are great but they are still unknown commodities coming to Anaheim along with role players and a young player that has promise.

I agree I get a good amount but anyone in this league that has tried for a Goalie, i believe I am giving a G, Top pairing D for a great value.

Just my 2 pennies :)

I think this is absurd.  But that is the way Drew wants to run this league where a 2nd fiddle goalie is worth a boatload of sh*t.

No wonder Tyler would laugh at my offers as they didn't include every young player on my team and all my picks!

Honestly I think the rules need to be adjusted.  Maybe only 7 goalie starts per week or something.  Or only 1 starter a day.

If this deal was for Bobrovsky then I would approve it easier.  But because its for a backup goalie that may or may not get 1st goalie work on a sh*t team I will have to.......

I don't like the deal because of what Tyler gave up to acquire Enroth before and because of his current situation. He didn't give up much to acquire Enroth because of the fact that he is a back up. So why should Tyler acquire an entire farm now? It doesn't make sense me to right now.

If this deal was for Bob or Quick, I would approve. But it is for a back up and a pretty good dman (I don't consider Bogo a stud yet). I  :veto:

Completely understand the sentiment here, but don;t think a deal should be based on what I paid for a guy before the season started. If that were the case a lot of deals would have to be looked at witha fine tooth comb.

If it appeases everyone I am willing to remove the 2nd round pick I get from Vancouver, I don't like it but am willing to do it if it appeases everyone.... I think it's a fair deal without the removal but if it helps I will do that as it could be a very good 2nd rounder.

I'm not just looking at what you paid for him - I am also looking at what difference he has done between now and when you acquired Enroth to alter his value. He made no real difference between his current value and the value he had when you acquired him. If Buffalo moved Miller yesterday, I can see this being a deal I can approve. But Miller is still the starter in Buffalo; and honestly, who knows if Buffalo chooses the move Miller to go with a Hackett/Enroth combo. I don't see this deal as fair right now.

As Walt stated I can't justify passing this trade with Enroth as a starter. This would be a package that would bring back a #1 that is a #1 and is near the elite level. Looking back to the Rinne trade that was exactly the package that needed to be received both ways.

Ok so

2 yes
2 no

Tony and Hf47 to vote

Will it make a difference to the veto vote of Drew and Favo if I remove a pick?

I hate to veto trades so I will offer a solution instead. This is the way I see it.

:ANA: Cedrick Desjardins, $0.2m (2013-14)
 Round 4 :ANA:
for
:VAN: Nick Bjugstad, $0.2m (2014-15)

Bjugstad still has solid NHL potential and Gilly trades his rights for a goalie that might see some NHL starts and a future prospect in the draft.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
:ANA: Zach Bogosian, $3.2m (2015-16)
for
:VAN: Niklas Hjalmarsson, $1.4m (2014-15)

Bogosian does have more fantasy upside but is twice the price.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
:ANA: Jhonas Enroth, $1.2m (2014-15)
for
:VAN: Mason Raymond, $2.0m (2013-14)
Round 1 :DAL-NHL2:
Round 1 :MIN-NHL:
Round 2 :VAN:

This is where I see it getting a little one sided and really hurting Vancouver's future. Too many high picks from a team with very little dpth in their minors. Yes he is getting a goalie with great potential but Raymond might put up more points then Enroth this year alone.

I do understand and respect what both sides are doing here and would suggest dropping one of the Round 1 picks. I still consider :ANA: a big winner in this deal but would be passable for me.

Sorry guys just trying to help you guys get this deal done.

I respect all of you and your opinions. You're all great hockey guys and you all know I wouldn't try to bully someone into a deal or try to win a deal in a landslide.

I respect this league too much to try and pull a fast one, I truly thought this was a fair deal, and sincerely still do, BUT, it's easy to think that when you are in a  trade.

I am willing to drop a 1st round pick from this deal, of Gilly's choice and still give him this package if it would make it better for all in the TC.

I don't love that, as I think it makes it a little more offside, but I am certainly willing to do it so Gilly gets a Goalie, Top pairing Dman, Good Goalie spec AND keeps a 1st rounder to help build off of.

I appreciate all you guys have to say, and appreciate the explanations rather than just VETO.

Please throw out your thoughts if i surrender the extra 1st rounder.

Thanks.

I would be happier with the deal if you cut a first and either downgraded the 2 nd (which if van continues to play this way, could net a late first round player in the real NHL draft) to a 3 rd or you upgrade your 4 th to a 3 rd. I still do not believe enroth is worth as much as you want for him because of his current situation. But the revised package I proposed feels like fair value to me.
