I really don't like the last point and think thats where we will have problems when we have 2 minor league teams. I know I would be mad if my 1st round pick got release cause there was no room on my NHL roster

And that is why you should be keeping tabs on your minor league players - it is to keep teams responsible. Honestly, you do not need to keep an eye on them every day. Just check on them once every couple of months and this should be of no concern to you.

BTW I really like what you are proposing there Drew. It gets a big  from me.

I agree that we need to keep a track of our minor players, but what if I'm at 24 active players, and two of my guys get called up and reach their 40 games within a couple of weeks?

I can be keeping track of my minors all I want, but then I'm forced to make a decision of waiving someone or cutting a prospect.  I don't like that the guy either fits in, or gets cut.

Most teams are at 24 or 25 players right now.  And as a bottom feeder team, I had 21 on my roster up until about a week ago.  It's tough to keep up when you only have 21 or 22 players.  And this rule as it currently sits promotes teams to have to leave a spot or two open.

I actually like signing all guys to a 2 way contract.  Gives teams a little more flexibility, which I know isn't always popular in this league, but I think makes the most sense on this issue.

Sign players to two-way contract right after they are drafted. Just like what is done in Vintage NHL.
I wouldn't be a fan of this as it doesn't promote full team management.

I see everyone's point on players hitting 40 games but we have that now, the only thing we are adding is 10 more spots in the minors and changing the structure. If it is really a big deal to player movement we could do 20 and 20, but most teams currently only have around 10 players signed in the minors so 15 should be sufficient.

Just curious as to y a player that reaches 40 games has to be signed and bra iggy to major team and not signed and left in minor think that would be a lot better versus not having a roaster spot and losing the player

I would be alright with this as well!

Drew, I know we are only changing the number of guys we can have in the minors, but I don't like the rule as it is written.  I don't think we should be forced to move them up or lose them.  Just my 2 cents.

So after much thought about this I like the idea of having a 25 man major and a 25 man  minor roster. Reduce the draft to 3 rounds.

I think that a lot of GM's don't sign their prospects because they think the player has to be called up.  You can your prospects and leave them in your minors until they are needed. Just want to make sure everyone understands that.

If we are going to keep it at one roster, than can I make one cosmetic suggestion? Instead of just grouping all of the players by position, can you also group them by N/C and contracted players too? That will make it a lot cleaner looking instead of having to shift through everything.

Yeah I may not understand all of this...So, if a player reaches his 40 game limit, he has to be signed, but he could be signed and kept in the minors?

I think instead of forcing a team to sign the player over 40 games to a one way contract, they should be signed to a one year, two way contract. The team loses an extra year on the player as a consequence of not signing them before the 40 games, but at least they will have a choice to call them up or not.

Currently the rule is they get signed to 2 year contract, 1 way, and are called up to the majors

The idea is you build your team with a salary of XXX and then every 2-3 seasons you have decisions to make. Field a 26 man roster, control your own pitching rotation, pen, lineup & bench like the true MLB. Draft every season where there's a lot of turnover. Interesting for sure.
