I would say either 1 buyout anywhere or 2 buyouts (1 major/1 Minor) i don't think we should have 2 major League Buyouts
-
I don't care either way but I think we should be able to use the buyout (s) beforfe the 2nd resign period

I don't want to allow the buyouts prior to that period as GMs will not be using it for the true intention of the buyout. The buyout will then be used my GMs to make room for their extensions not to take into account the drop in cap.
Also why I don't want them done before the extension deadline is that no one is over their projected cap currently.

Sorry guys I went to change poll so that people could change their vote and accidentally reset the poll, you'll have to vote again.

I like 1 buyout on Major roster.
-
i think 1 major and 1 minor so we can get some of those player rotting in the minors back in to the league.

The NHL cap change has nothing to do with our minors so I think only the players on the major roster should be bought out in my opinion.

Well this kind of sucks. lol Looks like I will lose a buyout because I don't have a big contract in my minors.

Really sucks as I moved some big contracts out of my minors thinking we were not going to have a free buyout in the minors I also gave up some players and picks to move them out

Still 11 more votes so anything can happen.

Ill be the first to say shouldn't even have buy outs I took my team the way it was built agreed to terms to rebuild it and so I have this buy out gives loop holes to this who over bid on players in FA ex rimer and those who over bid to Gain a player for one year but spread there contract over 2 years hence y I lost afew players in FA thinking more then just 1 year !! So I say limit 1 player in general doesn't mater minor or main makes it fair for every team to use this new LOOP hole ...
-
I voted for one in majors and one in minors.
I understand people saying that this is a loop hole. My vote was cast due to the fact that we are trying to emulate the NHL as close as possible. That's the whole point of this league right? S it may be a loop hole, but the loop hole is happening in real life, so we might as well do it as well.
And I also voted for a minor spot because I hate seeing some of those overpaid veterans rotting in the minors.

I changed my vote to 1 (use anywhere)

2 more votes needed!
-
I can't vote from my phone but it would be 1 major 1 minor
-
Looks like 1 (use anywhere) wins. When are we going to allow the buyout? after the season?
-
Poll locked, that is 18 if I include Tyler's
Vote was in favour 1 buyout to be used anywhere. I am good with this as it can be used by some to get players out of the minors that could be on major league teams and can be used to reduce cap due to the 6m drop in cap space.
Stipulations:
- Will be a period from after Extension Period #2 to a week before the 2013 Entry Draft that the buyout can be used
- Can not be used on players that were signed to extensions in 2012-13
Up for debate:
- Be used on players who retire following the 2012-13 season, yes or no
- Others?
-
:bump: Discussion on the Stipulations?
-
The stipulations are find, and I do believe we should be able to use it on a player that retires after this season.
-
I think we should be able to use it on anyone that has not been signed in the 2012-13 season, including retired players.

I have been quietly thinking about this discussion and have come to a conclusion that has real merit.
It is important to acknowledge in a substantive way that a number of GM's made very difficult choices in order to square their rosters before an amnesty buy-out was announced. Due to their foresight and shrewd management it follows that these same rosters may not be in need of an amnesty buy-out prior to the 2013-14 season.
Granting the one-time amnesty buy-out as a certificate rather than as a grace period would allow these GM's to carry it forward and apply it at a future date (as long as it wasn't for a player granted an extension in that particular season). In other words let us use the buy-out "anywhere" and "anytime". Or at least at the correct time in any future season.
This would balance the benefits received by the GM's who haven't sacrificed against the future needs of those who have.
