P Miller, Andrew, $1.5m (2009)
2008 ranking is 1275 2009 ranking is not in the top 500
This gives a minimum salary of $500k with a contract limit of 2 years. However, Miller has to earn at least 50% of what he earned before or he will test free agency. This means that the Pirates are accepting his terms of the contract at $1m per year (50% of $1.5 = $750k rounds up to $1m). The final deal is a $1m contract extension for one year through 2010.

As you may already have noticed, we have a new GM just in time for RS. Everybody, please welcome the new Cubs GM, Mike Bridgestone (bridgestone). He brings a couple years of experience, is a fan of a few teams including the Cubs, and wants a challenge (and probably a chance to right the Cubs ship!).

I would like to fire several GMs due to inactivity. Also, some other GMs may be leaving the game due to other reasons. I am posting this in the RC forum because we are the most involved GMs. I would like to see if we can find the replacements ourselves instead of random advertisements and postings. The GM positions that may be in flux are the following.
QUITTING Rangers - the 2nd GM of the Rangers has decided the game is too much for him and has bowed out for the year
INACTIVE - HAVE NOT HEARD FROM AT ALL Blue Jays Braves Cardinals Cubs Giants Rays Reds
INACTIVE - HEARD FROM Mets - have not heard from in regards to this game, may be over his head with other things to do White Sox - said he would look at it, but like the Mariners GM, haven't seen him do a thing
BARELY ACTIVE Mariners - over cap* - have heard from, but haven't seem him do a thing Rockies - was slightly involved, had his team in the race a bit Royals - over cap* - said he would try it this year, but doubted he would have the time for such an advanced game Tigers - did make a couple moves
I would like to fill the vacant positions in order from the top category to the bottom category. The last 4-6 GMs listed here may still be playing, but I need to hear from them to determine their status in the league.

Jeff Karstens has agreed to sign a $500k per year deal that takes his current contract through the 2011 season. This is first big-league contract as he is no longer eligible as a prospect after the 2009 season. His market value was deemed fairly low as he was ranked as the 348th best pitcher in baseball (2009) by Fantrax. His ranking in 2008 was much, much lower.

The Pirates have offered a contract extension to MI/CI Adam Kennedy who quickly signed the new deal, a 2-year $1m (total) contract... Fantrax pts in 2008 - 3820 Ranked 122nd of all CI Ranked 72nd of all MI 2009 - 4819 Ranked 117th of all CI Ranked 81st of all MI The best positional ranks are 117 for CI and 72 for MI. The extension calculator gives $500k league minimum for both positional rankings. I WILL LEAVE THIS POSTED AS A REAL CASE EXAMPLE UNTIL ANOTHER EXTENSION IS MADE

I will accept vote (via PM or in this thread) starting now, but I am sure waiting until after the playoffs may change people's votes. Anyways, this award will go out to the GM who was voted in as doing the best job. Obviously, winning is the key element here, but how a GM handled the FA and trade markets as well as injury and financial constraints is what matters. You may not vote for yourself! Votes will be shown public to be fair and transparent. Voting ends November 15th (end of RS).
VOTE TALLY 5 - Brewers GM (MIL) - CLE, FL, LAA, NYY, PIT
