The Astros and the Pirates are the only two teams in the league who have played zero division games this year. I'm sure it is because they swapped names at some point.
Unfortunately their schedules weren't swapped as well. The Pirates are still playing games against their previous division's opponants and so are the Astros.
Seems like an unfair advantage considering that the National League Central Division is the toughest, at this point.
-
Good catch. What are our options?
-
Thanks for bringing it to my attention. I can do 1 of 2 things at this point. I can swap the remaining schedules for the Pirates and Astros going forward or I can go back in time and switch the schedules, which will probably change up the standings a bit. As of right now, I switched up their opponents for next week. Let me know what people think is best.
-
If it's not too much work, I would prefer to make it right from the beginning of the schedule. Our division is one of the toughest and inter-division games are the quickest way to make up/lose ground.
-
I think you should leave the past alone, it was not an intentional mistake. Fitzy is just trying to improve his standing by re-scheduling weeks that have already been played.
-
I'd rather leave it, but whatever is decided I won't cry about. I know you guys work your buts off on this league, so whatever works.
question: I jut played Cin. prior to this past week. Are we supposed to be playing again so quickly? If so, great, I love division play and I'd love to avenge the come from ahead, Sunday afternoon loss, but I just figured I'd check since there was an issue with the schedule.
Thanks,
Frank-MB

You're darn right I am, Chris.
But let's face it, it is a huge error. Not a small one and a third of the season has gone by and I think you are the one trying to protect your record, which if played within the division like everyone else, would not be undefeated and that IS the point.
Doing what's right for the leahueand the season.
Why should you get to complate the season without playing within the division (the toughest in the league BTW)?

No...actually we should not be playing each other again.
We sine we essentially only have 4 teams in our division instead of five, as the Pirates are playing the schedule of the Astros and vice/versa, which is why he doesn't want to error fixed going all the way back to the beginning of the season.
Doubt he'd be undefeated in our division, the toughest in the league.

And since chris chimed inwith his usual acidic tones, let's keep it perfectly real; this is not an error by current league management, this "name-swap deal" was performed while the previous commissioner to you (yahoolando) was running the league and you took over for him after that.
So you are the one who is responsible for the current league schedule and surely, you knew this would happen with the schedule.
So who's protecting what here, Chris?

I don't have a dog in the fight, but out of curiosity, I re-ran the numbers based on Fitzy's corrected schedule.... 14 teams had a shift in record, 7 gained a game, 7 lost a game.
Surprisingly, the Reds have to give back their win over the Astros and accept a loss at the hands of the Pirates. All in all, the NL Central had four teams lose a game in the standings. The best division in the league comes back down to earth a little bit. Must've been padding that record beating up on the Astros.

Thanks Pete! I'd say you've made my point quite eloquently. Almost half the league has been effected. every other team in the league has played 3 to 4 games within it;s division.
Again, not the fault of current league management. Yahoolando made the name swap with Chris just before making him the new commish just before quitting and neither of them ever corrected the schedule.
Chris knew about this all along and never spoke up. Seems like cheating to me.

Fitz, explain to me how the schedule is set and my motivation for playing my games within another division. Please enlighten me to this grand conspiracy that I've unknowingly created here. I'm waiting.

What is my motivation for having the Pirates be undefeated? You are brilliant.

Pretty good for tanking your season in Houston though; can't imagine why anyone would want to tank either, but that's you.

So you were wrong, again but that's you.
-
I'm not wrong at all. You were the commisioner andyou knew this error exhisted but chose not to make it right. You made the deal to change team names withyahoo andnever fixed the schedule. You cheated. You knewit needed to be changed and didn'y do it.
And when you got "removed" from being commissioner, you didn't bother to mention it to the new league commmisioners.
You cheated. I caught you. You had more than enough opportunities to make sure the schedule was correct.
-
Nevermind. This is a waste of time.
-
Almost the entire first-half of the season has been tainted now. The Pirates have beengiven a huge advantage in our division by being allowed to keep their record from a division where people are obviously tanking the season.
This is balogne. The opportuntiy was there to correct it but that option was discarded for a league vote. The schedule is the schedule and any variation from it is a disaster. Plain and simple.
This is a HUGE mistake. And not at all the right thing to do.

Agreed. I thought the vote went the other way. Change the schedule to what it should have been and those are the standings that we should have in the league, no?

Its already been done.
