Title: New Rule
Post by: seanrmgallagher on April 06, 2014, 07:55:38 PM
We are going to reinstate an old rule for competitiveness reasons, the good of the game, and to be more realistic.

Every team will be required to have at least 10 active players in the MLB on their active roster at all times during the season (which means that they will be scoring points). Active players will be determined based upon espn.com rosters.

Obviously, this is a new rule and it would be unfair to penalize teams that are not currently in line with the rule. Therefore, all teams will have 1 month to comply with the rule. May 6th will be the date that the rule will go into affect. If a team does not comply during that time, they will lose draft picks. For the first day after a warning email, the team will lose the upcoming 5th round pick. If the team does not correct the issue within a week, they will lose their 4th round pick, another week and they will lose their 3rd round pick, and so on.

old rule interpretation please.    if I claim someone off waivers, make a trade, sign a free agent to a major league contract etc, is that player able to be placed directly in the minors, or must he first be placed on 25/40man roster and demoted from there?  ex. when I claimed chris getz off waivers from KC, could I have placed him directly in the minors without having to place kottaras on waivers to make room?  or is the way I did it the way it works?  btw, im not crying about losing kottaras, just want to be sure for future moves.

thanks,

If you claim someone off of outright waivers (a.k.a. the player was trying to be demoted off of the 40 man roster as was the case with Getz), the player will and must be put on your 40-man roster. If you claim someone from outright release waivers, they can go straight to your minor league team. You could have tried to pass Getz through waivers to put him in your minor leagues in the same way you tried with Kottaras, but what you did was the way it works. Although, from what I can tell, you had space on your 40 man roster for Getz without having to make a move (you currently have 38 players on your 40 man with the loss of Kottaras).  I hope that helps

yes it definitely does.  thanks.  now I am confused about my 40man though.  I was going by the 40 on my fantrax page.   with getz and kottaras that put me at 41 players at my disposal.  am I reading something wrong?  thanks again.

The official rosters are on the spreadsheet. The difference is that Donovan Hand and Caleb Gindl should have been on your Minor league roster. I am fixing that now.
