GOING TO DUCKS :ANA:
Brooks Laich, $0.6m (2014-2016)
Karl Alzner, $0.2m (2013-2015)

for

GOING TO FLAMES :CLG:
Emerson Etem, $1.0m (2012-2015-EL)
:ANA: round 4


I was missing having a 9th draft pick so i agreed to this trade.  :rofl: Actually Ducks asked about Laich and Alzner and offered Etem who I feel is on the same path as another young guy i just traded for El Nino.

Flames look to compete this yr and for yrs to come and this trade helps us pretty soon and further solidify our Milr by allowing us to add a prospect at the draft.

Not easy to let go Etem a solid offensive prospect but I fear he will have to wait at least 1 more maybe 2 years before he has any impact with the addition of Kessler and Heatley plus he is still on a 2 way contract so he may spend some time in the AHL .

In return I get 2 regular NHL'er ... Alzner is a former 5th overall pick and only 25 ... Laich will help me fill a need at center and I think he will get top 6 minutes in :WAS-NHL:

I like the potential going every which way. Laich can be a 100+ pt player and is definitely the type of player Trotz likes. Same for Alzner. I agree with HF about Etem getting pushed down the Ducks depth chart but he has a high ceiling for anyone ready to wait for him to break through to a top 6 role.

If Brooks can have a healthy season he will be a great pickup. Looks pretty even for different reasons.

:iatp: I'll give the Edge to :CLG: for the upside Etem brings but I agree with HF47 thatbitbmight take another 1-2 yrs for him to get relevant playing time. The fact Laich has been injured the past 2 yrs is concerning but if he plays regularly this yr, watch out... that tiny cap hit and his pt production will solidify HF47's status as the resident Hockey guru!
