DISCUSSION: Blocked Shot Stat?

Gents, starting this discussion to see opinions on whether we want to use Blocked Shot as a FNHL stat in the future.

Let's hear your opinions and if there's enough interest, we put 'er on the table for a good ol' vote.

I could go either way, but it would definitely make some shutdown d-men and grinding forwards more worth rostering. It is also a valuable contribution to an NHL teams play. Look at Marner's two late blocked shots at the end of the game yesterday, give me those points! lol

I'd say given these values
Shots-on-Goal: 0.25
Hits per game: 0.25

Blocked Shot should be the same 0.25 to keep it simple.

That adds quite a lot of points 35 pts per year for the top 50 bs blueliners alone - 1/3 of those guys are currently on the cheap. I don’t like that. I would say it helps add value to the Defencemen overall which is needed.

Hmmm, to knock down the value of a Blocked Shot stat to 0.15 pts per, wed be looking at a modest 21pts bump up per yr.

It mainly adds value to 3rd 4th liners as well as 2nd & 3rd Blueliner pairings.

Personally, I'm not interested in adding the Blocked Shots category.
There's no need. FNHL scoring cats are good, as is.

But if the majority of owners want it, I would suggest implementing 2yrs out give it impacts the value of players and their extensions.

I agree low tier defensive players need the bump and it’s a common added cat in other leagues

I think I would vote yes at .15 for 20-21 season... probably still need to sleep on it more but I like the idea

I for one do not see added value in including the Blocked Shots category. This league seems to be running well and introducing a new scoring category could impact teams and strategies even if it will not be implemented immediately. There is no urgent need for Blocked Shots so I would not be in favor of added it. Thanks.
