Jersey's been shopping for a young goalie and we finally decided to pull the trigger on a deal we liked.

Giving up what amounts to two first rounders and close to 5 million in cap to land our man. Caps wanted to clear salary.

I was looking to cut cap and Jack needed a goalie. I lose on of the best strengths of my team and that was having 2 starting goalies, both of which were not ridiculous overpaid. Nevertheless, I move a piece from strength and add cap and a few specs to the organization. Tough decision to make, but thanks for the deal Jack.

That's a significant trade for both teams. Cap is gold in this league. Although Varlamov is a shaky goalie he's still valuable. I've said it before we will see more deal involving salary for players. It's not detriment to either team so the deal gets a pass from me.

Both owners are known to make bold moves. Caps diversifying their goods. Devils plugging away at their holes. I think both teams are only getting started shaping their rosters. I like the deal now and for the future for both guys.
