CI JB Dantzler spec

Send Luis Urias and Albert Suarez to the minors.

CI Perez, Hernan, $0.5m (2017) -> rank 76 in 16 and less than 100 in 15 -> 0.5m (2018)
MI Petit, Gregorio, $0.5m (2017) -> rank 77 in 16 and less than 100 in 15 -> 0.5m (2018)
MI/OF Santana, Danny, $1m (2017) -> rank 78 in 16 (less than 107 in OF) and less than 107 in 15 in both -> 1m (2018)
OF Reimold, Nolan, $1.5m (2016) -> less than 107 in 16 and less than 107 in 15 -> 1.5m (2018) Question: under the 70% rule salary should be 1.05, is it rounded up or down? If down, then 1m (2018))
RP Coleman, Louis, $0.5m (2016) -> less than 100 in 16 and less than 100 in 15 -> 0.5m (2017)
RP Feliz, Neftali, $0.5m (2016) -> rank 92 in 16 and less than 100 in 15 -> 0.5m (2018)
SP Griffin, AJ, $0.5m (2017) -> less than 139 in 16 and less than 139 in 15 -> 0.5m (2018)

Prospect Extension
MI/CI/OF Dietrich, Derek, $0.5m (P-2016) -> rank 44 in 16 as CI and 26 as MI and 46 as OF (for some reason when searching as CI and OF his points are changed from what he has actually scored so I used the total that appears on my lineup page), and less than that in 15 in all positions -> 4m (2021)

Albert Suarez cannot be demoted because he has 55.2 IP -- the threshold is 40 IP.

********************

When giving extensions we use the highest rank/salary to compute the necessary contract.  In reviewing Dietrich's rankings, I found his eligibility as an OF to be his highest rank.

Derek Dietrich is currently ranked #7 in 2016 as an OF with 2433.2 points.
(OF-7      $12.0    Kemp, Matt)

Prospect contract extension at 60%  $12.0m X .6 = $7.2m

CI/MI/OF Dietrich, Derek, $7.0m (2021)

*****************
Extensions

MI d'Arnaud, Chase, $0.5m (2018)

CI Parmelee, Chris, $0.5m (2018)

CI Perez, Hernan, $0.5m (2018)

MI Petit, Gregorio, $0.5m (2018)

MI/OF Santana, Danny, $1m (2018)

OF Reimold, Nolan, $1.5m (2018)> less than 107 in 16 and less than 107 in 15 -> 1.5m (2018) Question: under the 70% rule salary should be 1.05, is it rounded up or down? If down, then 1m (2018))
Salary must be at least 70%, so it cannot be rounded down because it would not met the requirement of the rule.

RP Coleman, Louis, $0.5m (2017)

RP Feliz, Neftali, $0.5m (2018)

SP Griffin, AJ, $0.5m (2018)

The numbers on Fantrax are wrong when searching for Dietrich as an OF. HE has scored 1433 points not over 2000. I wish he had scored over 2000.

1474 today

I will research it, but here's what I'm seeing.

I understand, here is what  I get on my lineup page (point value does not change according to position, for some reason on the fantrax player list it does):

"Item AIX G-3.0
Contract extensions are based on looking up the player's highest salary per ranking by each eligible position in both the current season and the last season."

It's the same rule we use to determine FA compensation and we always have. If you want to extend him, Flash's numbers are correct. If not, try to resign him this winter during free agency. End of argument

Why are you so hell bent on screwing me over? This is clearly a Fantrax mistake.

Nobody is trying to "screw you over" Daniel. These are the rules we've used for years. Why do you think we should make an exception for you?

I contacted Fantrax about Derek Dietrich.  I wrote:

We use the points rank for each player as the basis for our extensions.
This player, Derek Dietrich, MIA, has eligibility as a MI, CI, & OF. When
I look at his OF numbers, it says he is our 7th ranked OF with 2433.2
points and 1474 as a MI. The 1474 is listed on his team roster as his
fantasy points. Why is he listed as 2433.2 as an OF--is it a mistake.

This is their response:

No, not a mistake. When you select "OF", it scores him as an OF, and so forth.

Thanks,
Neil
The Fantrax Team

-----------------------------------------

With that, we are going to have to go with his #7 ranking for the purposes of contract extensions.  So, if you want to extend Derek Dietrich with the 60% rule, his extension will have to be $7.0m (2021).

I know this is not the answer you want, but it is the reality we have to deal with.  I can assure you that we are not trying to be unfair to you in this instance.  We all rely on the Fantrax scoring system and we utilize it for all scoring aspects in FGM.  We cannot disregard its data when we are assured by the Fantrax staff there is not an error.

Please let us know how you want us to proceed.

This is absolute BS. Can we remove his eligibility as OF or something? I don't even want him to play OF. How come his points are worth more as an OF? It is the same crappy stat line, and there is a serious issue with our scoring system if that stat line is ranked as #7 top OF.

Also, he has only played 4 games as OF this season, so he will lose eligibility after the season. I do not see why I have to extend him based on the OF rank

I might be piping in where I'm not wanted, but there is definitely something wrong with Fantrax or our league scoring settings. Dietrich has different pts values depending which position you pick, CI, MI, and OF are all different.

So I checked Forsythe on my team, his values are also different based on whether I choose MI or CI. So something is going on with different scoring values for different positions. If I knew this, I would've started him at whichever position is scoring more pts. This issue could be throwing the whole season's scoring off if it's for every multiposition player, and if those pts differences are reflected in weekly scoring.

I haven't checked the rules yet, but is scoring supposed to be different for hitters based on which position they play?

Oh wow, my bad. I just read the rules and the fielding scoring is different for every position lol. Not sure how I missed that, but I'm going to have to re-think my whole lineup.

 It always has been different. Always helps to know the rules

Lol, I spend half my time on this board in the rules, somehow missed the different fielding values though.

Extensions are computed based on all position eligibility.  Your declaration that you do not intend to use him as an OF is not really relevant.  The fact that he is currently OF eligible is something we cannot ignore or remove.

The decision is yours:  Keep him with a contract extension at $7.0m (2021) -- or let him go to free agency.  You could also wait to see if he drops in rank so the contract extension is less.

The choice is yours.

I am not extending him now. He should drop rank now that he is playing less. Two questions though: How long after the season is the window to extend prospects? If he loses eligibility after the season (which he should the way it's going), can I extend him at the other positions as soon as the season is over?

You have until midnight Eastern 9/26/16 to extend contracts. That is the end of our fiscal year; he would automatically become a FA so, no, he cannot be extended in the off-season.
