New York Mets History :NYM:

2020: 3rd in East Division (43-17)
The 2020 season was a great step forward for the :NYM:.  Led by Freddie Freeman and Fernando Tatis, Jr., the :NYM: were very competitive and that improvement bodes well for the future.

There was a management change at the start of the season.  Ceri (zephyr22) began the season as a co-GM, but had to ascend to GM when the other co-GM disappeared once again.  Under her leadership, the :NYM: should be a force in 2021.

2019: 4th in NL East (54-108)
The :NYM: have suffered from poor front office decisions and a lack of activity.  Needless to say, 2019 illustrates the fact that a leadership change is need—which is exactly what will happen in 2020.  Fortunately, the new GM will have a sizable amount of cap to spend on free agents.

2018: 5th in NL East (37-125)
The :NYM: gained a new GM late in free agency and lancelot2407 was able to add some MIs and Cs, but much more is needed if the :NYM: are going to be competitive in the NL East.  Hopefully, with a sizable amount of cap dollars available, the :NYM: will continue their rebuilding process.

2017: 4th in NL East (37-125)
This was a trying season for the Metropolitans.  Although the team roster seemed in good shape, the GM was unceremoniously booted from ProFSL at mid-season and the team was rudderless for a bit

The :NYM: then hired a new GM during the season in Orange Country.  He immediately initiated a rebuilding plan and traded away many of the team’s assets for prospects and cap relief.  He built a nest egg of $88.0m, but didn’t really utilize those monetary assets to acquire any impact free agents and the team record reflects that.  He did extend Freddie Freeman to a league high salary of $20.0m.

2016: 2nd in NL East (107-51)
With an everyday lineup featuring Chris Davis, Freddie Freeman, and Jean Segura, along with a rotation anchored by CC Sabathia, Doug Fister, and James Shields, the :NYM: were more competitive, but still finished 18 games behind the division leader.  Nonetheless, the future looks bright.

2015: 2nd in NL East (53-37)
The reins were passed by Corey to his handpicked replacement, Kris (speedster1413).  The :NYM: tried to replicate the previous season, but fell short and finished 9.5 gms behind the division winning :PHI: in the NL East.  The new GM has to do some work to improve his roster to return to the playoffs.

2014: 1st in NL East (77-64)
After capturing their first NL East Division title, the :NYM: went into the playoffs as the NL #3 seed.  The team underperformed in the NLDS and were given an early exit by the :STL:, however, the season has to be viewed as a success by GM Corey.

2013: 3rd in NL East (80-61)
The :NYM: plateaued a bit and virtually the same record as the season before.  But, there was an improvement in the standings as they climbed one notch and finished 3rd in the NL East.  With the addition of Prince Fielder, Carl Crawford, and Hyun Jin Ryu, the :NYM: seem poised to do better in 2014.

2012: 4th in NL East (80-82)
An 18-game improvement went largely unnoticed for GM of the Year voting, but the job Corey has done has not gone unnoticed.  The Mets almost had a winning record in 2012 thanks to Fielder, Freeman, plenty of offensive depth, and talented veteran pitching.  This is by far their best record in FGM history.  The last time the Mets had a winning record was in 2008 when they finished 89-73.

2011: 4th in NL East (62-100)
Failure to sign FA with available cap space and inactivity office going into the season led to Joseph's dismissal at the beginning of the season.  At the time, the Mets were ranked the worse team in the league power rankings.  All of this after a 131-194 record. over the past two years.  After five weeks of searching for a GM, Corey Ramsey, GM of the reigning AL Champion New York Yankees decided to take on the challenge of the Mets and move from the Bronx to Queens.  He brought in favored youngster Freddie Freeman and a few other young prospects as the Mets looked ahead to the off-season after losing 100 games in 2011.

2010: 4th in NL East (71-91)
David Ludlum stepped in as the 2nd GM of the fantasy franchise and delivered by trading away core players.  Gone were Delgado, Reyes, Wright, and F-Mart... enter in Todd Helton, Chris Carpenter, Brad Hawpe, Jermaine Dye, and Alfonso Soriano.  He had an affinity to older veterans.  He decided to resign in February and immediately came in Todd DeWitte.  Todd had very little to work with during the 2010 season.  He gave some big bonuses to available prospects, eventually cut Soriano, and looked forward to the draft as the team did poorly again.  Todd had to resign from his position at the end of the season.  The Mets hired their native son, Joseph Jaquez, to take the helm of the front office just days later.

2009: 5th in NL East (59-103)
The real life Mets were pretty bad thanks to poor executive decisions and many injuries to key players.  The fantasy Mets did even worse due to poor management on top of those problems.

  • Jwalkerjr88: Idk if anyone remembers the 2021 class but it was weak on offense outside or the top 10-15. I dont regret the deal just learned and move on. As long as you have assets, you can mold your build how you want. Picks are usually the most valuable asset because most gms want in on a draft.
