Title: Pre-Season Power Rankings
Post by: Drew on January 17, 2013, 02:25:21 PM
1. :CHI-NHL: - The Champs have one year out remaining on key players to defend their title
2. :EDM: - I like what I see and team hasn't changed much from last season except age
3. :MON-NHL: - Solid contributors at all positions, dependent on Smith having another good year
4. :PHI-NHL: - This ranking depends on the contributions of Theodore and Neuvirth
5. :VAN: - What happens if Luongo is actually traded to Philly, Bryz could be bought out, otherwise a solid lineup
6. :NAS: - Could have 3 starting goalies this season
7. :BOS-NHL: - Needs to land a defensemen or two to field a full lineup but solid
8. :ANA: - Benn needs to sign soon or the Ducks are in tough at LW
9. :PIT-NHL: - One more year out of Brodeur should make the Pens not a bottom feeder
10. :OTT: - Schneider is a starter! The young guns could come out firing this season
11. :DET-NHL: - Ovie and Crosby will carry this team and could be better than this ranking
12. :CLS: - Will Elliott or Halak start, this effects where the Jackets end up
13. :WIN: - Young guys need to fire for the Jets to make waves this season
14. :CLG: - Core of Spezza/Ryan/Vanek/Yaku isn't bad
15. :MIN-NHL: - Crawford as the only starter caused this low ranking, center positon is strong but expensive
16. :DAL-NHL: - Will they put up a fight? Yes. Will it be successful? I have my doubts
17. :NYR: - Completely retooling the team to get younger, minor league team is developing into a strong future
18. :TOR-NHL: - No starter due to Thomas going crazy, rest of lineup average and minor league depleted. winter has his work cut out for him this season

I think this league has great parity. Other than a couple teams, I see there being a dog fight every night and games being very close and anyone can win. Everyone will be gunning to take down the Blackhawks due to them winning last year and fielding a solid team this year as well. I see some teams (depending on play) surprising us as well. There will be injuries this season that come into play as well that could change a team's season, especially in this shortened season.

Everyone should be looking to get about 6-7 wins to get into the playoffs and I see a perfect record of 11-0 taking the President trophy and we may possibly have multiple perfect seasons.

So this is my official welcome to the league. I wish everyone a good season but in the end you will all hail to your commissioner as the league champ!

I agree with all.of this but i dont believe CHI is #1 unlese its solely based on that he won last year..but thats me, no offense here pls

I think it is just based on :CHI-NHL: winning last year and they are the reigning champs.

No Chicago is the team to beat because of it but they appear to also have the best roster, I think as well. 3 starting goalies and possibly guaranteed all Ottawa's starts and they are also solid at each position with Tavares/Stepan/Bergeron at center, Pac/Burrows on LW, Kessel/Brown on RW, and Seabrook/Kronwall/Gio on defense
