Pending FAs would not be part of the draft.
Vegas will get a chance at the pending FAs like everyone else.

So I envision it going like this...

* Transaction freeze, no more extensions
* Any player with expiring contract is exempt from Expansion Draft
* Expansion Draft takes place
* Then contracts roll over
* Rosters get prep'd for FA period + 2017-18 season
* Then FA starts

Thats the plan.

Players with less than 2 yrs are exempt.

Teams can protect up to 10 skaters and a Goalie

And * Any player with expiring contract is exempt from Expansion Draft

has Brendan Gallager on an expiring deal, yet we can sign him in the offseason. What's stopping us from leaving him unprotected and exempt and then resigning him after the draft? Or does the resigning period happen before the draft takes place?

Pickings may be slimmer than originally thought. May take some time for Vegas to become competitive. We will see.

Vegas is getting 2 G's ...... I've been here for years and on my 2 teams together have 2 combined NHL goalies and both of them suck! That is a huge advantage that none of us will ever get.

My concern about this exspansion is loseing of players from one team example blues they could loose 5 players and say for example sharks loose 1 player. Wont that hurt blues.
2nd questions my team for example most of my team has there contracts up after this yr. Im not going to resign a bunch of them. In that case wont that limit who he can take? Isnt that a disavantage for las vegas seeing that they draft players with exspiring contracts

Thats correct. All extensions need to be completed before the Expansion Draft. That way everyone knows where each team stands in terms of eliguble players.

Once players hit FA everyone including Vegas has a chance to sign them.

Correct, each team can ONLY lose MAX. 1 player in the Expansion Draft. A handful of team may not lose any.

Since Vegas cannot draft players with expiring contracts there wont be the issue you raised Indiansnation.
