https://www.espn.com/nhl/story/_/id/29114317/nhl-hopes-reopen-training-facilities-late-may Bettman's saying late May to reopen NHL training/practice facilities. Interestingly soon given the discussion here on our FNHL pages. Seems a little too soon for the NHL plus there are still travel restrictions in place so the players that left North America to return to Russia, Sweden, Czech Rep, Finland etc are going to hove to plan to return to NA and quarantine for 14 days then be allowed to go to practices. Wonder if they're going to wear masks. That'll make it near impossible to breath properly for these top athletes. HAHA Apparently the NHLPA wants 3 wks of training time to get up to speed. All that will have to be factored into the restart.

I'm not impressed with hospital administration that have the task of planning for such events. Supplies are short. Personnel are not well trained for these emergencies. Lots of people caught with their pants down IMO.
I worked in a hospital to pay for university ages ago and I know how some doctors, nurses, patient attendants, house keeping staff, diet offie personnel are very lax about hygiene when caring for the sick. Sorry but you don't want to end up in a hospital, you'll probably get sicker if you do. Best thing to do is stay home if humanly possible, practice universal health precautions, and practice physical distancing for the 2 mths duration when it hit your area of the world.

I'm not opposed to it, so I won't block it.
Just that everyone needs to consider that it's a different season, so it will change the dynamics. Players who are UFA's will be unsigned ... which will be even more likely if the NHL has a much shorter offseason. Some will retire. Some will move on to the KHL. Some goalies will lose their starting jobs. Some skaters will get demoted to the AHL.
These are all things that we adjust to over the course of an offseason ... and even over the course of the regular season. But there will be no course for adjustment in a 3-4 week playoff. No trades. No FA signings. Just luck of the draw.
Just something to think about.
Crow, no need to worry for your Eastern Conf team. Pens will be given the boot by my Bs. I think you made some good points. Of course, all things being equal, the same fate your Stars and Pens suffer will likely impact the other 5 FNHL playoff teams including FA, injuries, retirement, etc. That said, it'll probably balance out in the end but worth keeping an eye on as the weeks pass during the COVID-19 reality we now live in.

Agree with Jonathan. Whether there's a fee or not, it would be a great way to play through the remainder of the FNHL Playoffs and crown a new champ for 2019-20. I would start that in week 2 or 3 of the season because week 1 is usually shortened or has weird travel overseas what truncates the schedule of those teams.

As of the NHL pause this is what my matchup with Montreal looks like: (ATL 2) 50.1 @ 54.15 (Div Winner 1) Pretty sure I can overtake those pesky Habs!

This is an open discussion thread to talk about the impact of the NHL season currently put on hold.
To get the discussion going, here are some possible outcomes given possible NHL decisions re 2019-20 NHL season:
1) NHL pauses regular season and resumes regular play per existing matches —- RECOMMENDATION: FNHL to resume FNHL playoffs with updated calendar dates.
2) If the NHL decides to cancel the remainder of the season... RECOMMENDATION: FNHL will keep FNHL regular season results, cancel FNHL playoffs & carry over 2019-20 prize pool to 2020-21 FNHL; FNHL draft contingent on NHL holding a draft with weighted lottery to determine draft position for the 8 remaining playoff teams.
3) If NHL decides to eliminate the remainder of its regular season and begin NHL playoffs when play resumes, FNHL playoffs will be cancelled and prize pool carried over to 2020-21 season.
The points above are for discussion and not firm decisions. Please feel free to post your thoughts.
Good plan boys! I like it. I agree with others who say the NHL will likely start up again in May sometime. You have to imagine the NHL as a major entertainment business entity wants to recoup $$ after this pause and avoid losing millions in revenue.
