Now in terms of mechanics of how to process... if we did move ahead with this idea, would a stashed Free Agent in the MiLR ... one that already owns a contract qualify somehow for an Entry Level contract if their current contract expires and they get called up?Also, should teams be allows to bury a Free agent stashee's contract in the Minors? I don't think so and that player's contract should still count towards the MLR (regular team cap) given the abuse I've seen of waivers in various leagues.A suggestion for mechanics:1) the Free agent prospect can be stashed in the MiLR2) contract remains on Major League Roster's Cap (similar to how FNHL deals with Long term Injured Reserve contracts, they remain on the books but the roster spot gets freed up)3) once the current prospect's contract expires their cap hit goes to $0 (as long as the prospect is on the MiLR)4) If the prospect gets called up and doesn't have a current/active contract, they would qualify for an Entry Level contract (like a drafted prospect) if they are being called up.
I think it would be good to have a draft round dedicated to draftees from past years. Make it so that only players that haven't played a game or have played less than 40 games can be drafted from any year prior to the current draft year. You can even assign one draft pick per team per day so each team knows exactly when they should be drafting instead of waiting for the guy on the clock to pick or run the clock.
If you want to do the extra work Pigs I'm all for it. LOL
I don't mind the extra work because it'll end up being like Amnesty Buy outs, only 20-25% of teams will use this to their advantage. In the event more teams option to stash a prospect that qualifies (up to and less than 40 regular season games played), I would gladly process the transactions because it adds more value back to the MiLR and Franchise NHL overall. I like searching for prospects and it would be to my advantage for sure.If we limit it to only 1 transaction per team per yr in a limited timeframe/window, that should control the possibility of abuse. It would be good to get more input from the rest of the team owners.
Like I said in the EDM/CBJ trade thread if you gents want a hand processing transactions I can pitch in. I like the direction we're headed in here and can't wait to bring in some new owners to compete against. I haven't had so much interest in fantasy since the early days of pencil to paper draft boards in my basement over beers. Anyone remember doing that way back when?
hi guys JUST A SUGGESTION.... ...my suggestion is..if WE CAN make a free agency maybe just 5 or 10 days for UNDRAFTED PLAYERS that will not be picked here on our league ...and illegible players are in the last 2 or 3 yrs that has not been pick in this league and must have 0 NHL exp...and teams can only sign maybe just 2 players per year..a no auction signing just sign the players automatically this makes us a SCOUT lol.....i guess this makes our league different from the others, hehe,,...again this is just a suggestion..nov17-13: title modified to clarify purpose of thread.
