Colorado isn’t getting nearly enough back for DeJong. He’s a top 15 SS and Colorado is paying 2/3 of his contract this year and 1/2 of his contract next year and they’re getting back a pitching prospect that carries no value and an OF that while drafted in the first round last year, doesn’t have the prospect pedigree that would be needed to turn this into a fair deal.
I agree with what RJ has said here.
Especially since that money is being paid. Given COL needs to clear cap, they shouldn't have to pay salary on PDJ unless the prospects coming back are top top notch, and I don't see it here.
I think there are higher upside prospects on the FA wire still than both Shef and Mac, given the timeline to the MLB for the 2 of them.
And they could be signed for free just like Will Smith catcher for the LAD was signed for a few weeks back, as well as the 3-4 guys that TBay just won in FA. (On that note I'm all but assuming both Shef and Mac would be dropped to make room for the better prospects that were just won in FA. Just sayin')
