Title: 2017 PACIFIC DIV. BUYERS & SELLERS
Post by: PsychoticPondGoons on February 23, 2017, 10:54:07 AM
Buyers & Sellers in the PACIFIC

:LAK: Kings trying to regain the form that saw them dominate the past 2 seasons in FNHL but have lost a number of key stars MacKinnon, Andres Lee, etc. If anything they'll look for depth moves or perhaps if the stars align, 1 blockbuster of a deal.

:EDM: Oilers are a lock to make the playoffs for the 1st time in a long time but wihout a goalie to speak of will have an uphill battle competing in the post-season. But they're set in 2017-18. Seems to be done dealing.

:PHO: Coyotes are a former FNHL champion and will be a lock to make the playoffs but will do so dragging their butts across the finishline. Could be Sellers if the right offers come along.

:CLG: Flames will be waiting for the off-season to allow new owner DToxFan to really reshape his roster. Still they might be active Selling if the right offer comes along.

:VAN: Canucks could be Selling some of the team's goods but also looking ahead to the off-season.

:SJ: Sharks could be Buying & Selling but may have moved onto other interests like managing their yachts at the marina.  while sipping cocktails at 11AM.

:ANA: Ducks are likely going to Stand Pat while picking up rebuilding efforts this Summer, and they're going to have a ton of cap space to do it.

Everyone is likely waiting to see what Edmonton will look like next year.
Eichel
Toews
Horvat
Matt Tkachuk
Schenn
Sam Reinhart
Orlov
Zadorov
Keith
Lindell

And a full 30 for 30 prospects in their MiLR bursting at the seams full of talent.

All Jonathan needs is a goalie willing to move his family and mistress to Edmonton and he's set in the Great White North known as Edmonton. :toast:

I have been stubborn in my efforts, but I claim that the cost is just too high to get a good one. I have been stubborn in drafting them too. With that said, Edmonton has found new ways to at least add relevant future one's this year. Woll in round 3 and trading for McDonald have improved our future there. We also like the addition of a few that we have on NHL roster, like Lyon. Hard to predict when it comes to G position. Its luck more than anything.  Also, I was not passing on Samson, Eichel or Tkachuk to grab one. That is the negative of have picks #1, #2, and #4 the last 3 years. By round 2, the one's I was high on were long gone.

Edmonton will not overpay to get a G. That is a guarantee. We will keep searching and doing our HW.

Edmonton is neither a buyer or seller.

Yeah, Yeah. Need more depth. Pretty much all those guys are untouchable right now. Zadorov broke out without scoring a single goal (Pretty Hard to do). He has been a hitting machine, which is nice skill to have here. Really happy with my revamped D going forward. Chance to be difference makers, all of them. Glad I made all those trade to fix my cap, as apparently the NHL wasn't going to help me.

Canucks unlikely to be selling due to most of my cheap cap hits are currently in the AHL. Improved the team from the start of the season, via FA and trades.
Hopefully a few of my D prospects get promoted (McAvoy and Bergman) for next season, and looking forward to the various drafts and next years free agency madness.

:SJ: Sharks were busy at the deadline moving players and bringing in new ones.

Calgary Flames would have liked an offer for Dennis Wideman but in the end, given his sizeable cap hit of $6.3m through 2019 and his production that borders on not just anemic but pathetic, the alternative course of action seemed more fitting.

Are we where we want to be? No. We were sincerely aiming for a playoff spot but given our deficiencies throughout our roster we will need to contend for a proper rebuilding project through the Summer months.
