Title: 2017 METROPOLITAN DIV BUYERS & SELLERS
Post by: PsychoticPondGoons on February 03, 2017, 12:45:06 AM
Buyers & Sellers in the Metro

:NYR: Rangers jockeying with Pens for Division title. Should be Buyers while playing with $4.4m in cap space.

:PIT-NHL: Pens trying to maintain their position atop Metro but fending off strong challengers in NYR and NYI. Should be Buyers with limited cap space.

:NYI: Isls should be buyers but can afford to stand pat. This team has been coming on strong while operating in stealth mode. Owns almost no cap space.

:NJD: Devils in striking range of a Wildcard spot currently 6 pts behind th 2nd Wildcard team, Toronto. Might stand pat if history is any indication.

:WAS-NHL3: Caps need to decide if they want to compete or wait for 2017-18. Have some players they are willing to move but will need their asking price met.

:PHI-NHL: Flyers Buying & Selling. Itching to shakeup the roster built up by the longest serving original FNHL owner.

:CLS: Jackets are Sellers and can wheel and deal more if they want or stand pat while waiting for FA to roll around. Guess it'll depend on offers they get from Contenders trying to shake loose some useful Jackets players.

:CAR-NHL: Canes need to continue overhauling their franchise, but most of their deals have already been completed. Now they're waiting for the off-season and Free agency. :toast:

I think it's admirable what Philadelphia is doing in their attempt to catch lightning in a bottle and secure a Wildcard spot.
Realistic, No.
Definitely gutsy.

"Whatever is worth doing at all is worth doing well."
No point doing it half assed LOL
Go out with a bang.
Go hard.
Leave nothing on the table.
Etc.

Been waiting a long time to get my hands on Philly and now that I finally own them, I'm going to give it all I've got.

Doesn't matter if I drop 10 spots in the Draft because I'm going to be passing a few teams in the standings. Just matters I did what I could be lift the Orange & Black into the post-season.

If nothing else, I'm going to have a blast doing it.  :toast: :taco: :taco: :taco:

Or we can say you like spinning your wheels. ;-)

Some interesting moves to date by the Flyers from both new and old owners.

 :iatp:

Carolina is most likely done dealing until the offseason.

I think Philadelphia would have to almost win out to make it. I like the effort though hopefully it pays off.

Devils left with 1 goalie in Chad Johnson while starter Varlamov is out for the rest of the season. Tough going in NJ.

Any updates to this Buyers & Sellers list since this post?
Islanders are causing a stir taking over the Division lead since the start of this week.  :o

I think the Flyers can Sell... will be tough to make the final cut for the playoffs the way Toronto and Buffalo picked it up last wk for the final Wildcard spot in the East.

:PHI-NHL: has some stuff we can deal but not a ton. We love our Flyers!

Washington is more of a Seller at this point, but has only heard crickets this year. Really looking for deals to improve our team long term, no interest in picks.

:WAS-NHL3: Caps got into it at the trade deadline with a couple of trades setting things up for the off-season. :NJD: pulled the trigger earlier. :PHI-NHL: Philly finally decided to move a few vets to admit the rebuild was on. Division leading :NYI: Islanders finally got a deal out the door - and a pretty big blockbuster of a deal too. :toast:

Oh yes!
And you all should be intimidated by the fact that Eddie Läck seems to be getting his share of the Canes' goalie starts, finally  :win:
