Losing a young arm in Gray and elite closer in Chapman is never an easy move but I’ve got the arms to step in and Hand can capably replace Chapman along with a nice prospect return. Note pending approval of the deal I will make minor league drops if necessary to be roster compliant

The shortened season really dictated this deal. I originally would’ve let Machado start the year cause I believe he’s due for a big bounceback but a shortened season combined with an extension looming made a deal now make more sense. Getting Hays who may be a starting outfielder now along with two prospects further down the line I think helps me continue this team’s position long term
