I will put it differently. It seems backwards to determine whether we need replacement GM's AFTER the ABO period. Right?

Anyway, just drop it. It would be a small improvement but it's no big deal. Especially if new GM's can make use of ABO's retroactively. If that is the case you have essentially addressed the issue I raise.

Actually, we don't make exceptions on dates, rules in most cases.
So no retroactive ABO unless someone PMed us with a question and that ABO hinged on an answer to the PM and the deadline expired. Then we would make an exception.

Generally, adults buy-in to Franchise NHL and go with the flow like everyone else.

You're missing the point PPG. It is not about how people do their buy-outs. But at what point they are committed to staying on as GM.

The pt isn't lost in my understanding of the Question. IMO it doesn't matter. Plenty of other ways to deal with bad contracts or deadbeat players a team wants to move.

As for when we confirm commitment of owners. Is there a perfect time?
Not in my experience aside from when it's time to pay up. LOL PPG takes a bow.

What do you think of extending the Amnesty Buy-out period to enable new GM's to get rid of players that should have been dropped by GM's that quit instead? A GM that decides not to return at the end of the finals isn't likely to make any moves for the benefit of the franchise.

Look at :TOR-NHL: currently as a mock example. That franchise has $12m tied up in goalies that likely won't play next year....any GM that takes over would benefit from access to the ABO program if it were extended through the Summer.

What do you think?

2wks is sufficient.
Perhaps there's a better time to slot it in.

I scheduled the ABO for immediately after the Finals because its a tool for interested ppl who are still around after the playoffs wrap up. Snug got around that by postdating which inallowed because it is an inclusive move.

Traditionally most ppl disappeared after May thru Aug and by Aug contracts rollover in FNHL.

Soni slotin the ABO at the end of the season. Everyone else including new owners can use all the other cap management tools.

That's all I was getting at. Appreciate that contracts are fairly easy to get out of.....just don't want a franchise to be disadvantaged (even slightly) in the event that a GM decides to fold. Anyhow, I'm satisfied that I am understood.

I'm not trying to make things difficult or more complicated than they need to be. It's just in my nature to try and improve the things that I am a part of. Enough said.  :toth:

Hmmm, i had that mindset before taking over as commish. Pergaps Slack might want to step in at some pt. Something to consider Slackjack!

Opinions with rationale to back them are always welcome.

The setup in FNHL is truly not one where we try to mirror the NHL... you know like the leagues that try for that authentic experience only to let you slot in 2 Allstar goalies nightly. haha

I try to keep rules relatively straightfwd for new owners to learn and allow for enough tools for them to rebuold quickly and for PPG and myself to administer so transactions dont sit on the board too long. :toast:

Amnesty bo shouldnt be a core BO option so no need to extend the ABO period. Beyond that where ever you slot that 2wks doesnt matter but end of season seems to work because you know what you need to do with your team before FA and rollover.
