I'd like to put a proposal out there to expand our minors from 20 to 30. I know this has been discussed in the past but with 10 picks a year and only 20 spots makes it tougher to keep guys that take longer to develop. I know we can stash some on the MLB roster but I just feel with the number of draft picks we get each year, an expansion to 30 seems reasonable. I'd like to see if there is enough support from the league to put this up for a vote. Thanks! :toth:

I do not support an expansion of the MiLB roster. Expanding the MiLB roster to 30 players will essentially take 300 players out our free agent pool and I don?t see the benefit of doing so. Our present rosters require us to make some challenging decisions, and yes, sometimes we release players who do not develop quickly. However, we?re in the business of fantasy play and that requires us to choose one player over another?instead of hoarding and stashing players.
How many times have I requested GMs to review their MiLB rosters to see if a player is worth keeping? Yes, it does take some players longer to develop, but that?s where our individual research comes in. Additionally, I think an expanded roster will become a place to keep 16 and 17 year old international prospects and will not be a way to utilize more draft rounds.

With a 40 man major league roster I am with Flash, the expanded minor league roster is unnecessary. Teams can choose how to allocate their 40 man roster with either minor league guys or major league reserves/depth pieces. It seems to be part of the game. Most of the similar league I play in have approximately 60 player rosters and they limit the major league roster to 30. To me, this gives teams greater flexibility to compete how they choose to while also maintaining some decent players in free agency or decent minor league free agents every year.

I am not a fan. Here's my reasons for not being excited about this:
1) There's no way my team would be nearly as decent as it was this year without a lager FA pool. Most of the guys I got through FA and those were about the only way I had to establish any kind of trades that I've made.
2) I'm a big fan of playing for the now. I try to grow my teams as fast as I can to compete. The more sources available to me to do that the better.
3) I think it's good to have diversity in the leagues we have out here. I am in leagues with 50 & 150 minor leaguers. If you want to do over what might be, we have openings in each of these leagues.
Don't get me wrong I see the value in more prospects on your roster and I am ok with putting it to a vote, but I don't think I'd vote for it.

Personally I am for expanding the minor league rosters.

I don't support expanding, however, I don't feel very strongly about it.

This exploratory post to see if there is enough support for a referendum to expand our minor league rosters has been on the Board since November 1st. It has not garnered the necessary of 8 GMs, therefore it will have to be considered at a later date and this topic shall be removed from the Board in the next few days.
