Ottawa's deal with the Champ (Kings)
« on: January 10, 2017, 02:31:35 PM »
Was hoping to make a deal to move out some new players that were added during the previous administration. Zacha ain't my kind of player so I'm glad to move him with 2.5m due shortly on a Entry level deal. Best place to deal him is to the GM that traded for him once already. Hossa was not in our plans longterm plans.

Traded to KINGS
Marian Hossa, $5.3m (2010-2018)
C - Pavel Zacha (2015: 1/6 - 33 Games)  GP updated Jan3, 2017
Dylan DeMelo, $0.3m (2015-2017)

Traded to SENS
Elias Lindholm, $2.8m (2016-2019)
C - Ryan Kujawinski (2013: 3/73 - 0 Games)
D - Kyle Capobianco (2015: 3/63 - 0 Games)
Nick Shore, $0.4m (2015-2018-EL)
Marc-Edouard Vlasic, $2.6m (2015-2018)
Jared Cowen, $0.3m (2016-2018)
Round 2 - 2017

Let's keep it going boys. Good doing business with you Champ!

:iatp: Los Angeles management confirms this trade with the new management team of the Ottawa Senators.

We have an opportunity to acquire assets we deemed valuable and ones we had previously targeted. In exchange, we give up a multitude of young assets and also asked the Senators to take on Cowen's contract a player currently in limbo. Good-luck build your new team, EndGame!

The new GMs need to have staying power to catch the top teams. 3 years ago (going on 4) I was a new GM. It takes about 2 years to see dividends pay off.

Prospects are my pet peave, and dealing away proven NHL talent for guys in the OHL, AHL, and KHL is risky at best imo. I would never do it personally.

That said, if the new GMs have a vision, along with the testicular fortitude to see it thru, then teams can grow and GMs can prove themselves. In a 30-31 team league, there is no building the "Super Team".

""There are only so many players that can give you NHL stats"" and we don't give bonus points for AHL stats nor do we give out $ for top farm.

Jonathan's formula in Edmonton has been years in the making and will pay off soon but most GMs in fantasy do not have that kind of patience or forsight.

All that said, Looks like a healthy return here, good combo of NHL/AHL. I hope the specs contribute for the Sens as well as the other teams that invest heavily in minor leaguers.

:iatp: The way I see it the setup in this league ensures there's value in everything from the players, to cap space, on down to prospects and draft picks. Surprising actually. Even if a team has a ton of prospects at some point you get to cash in on them the way it seems Colorado was able to with those Holiday trades they made. Same with Dallas. I think Ottawa is another team with lots of good players down on the farm. Now if they can only send me some.

A well-conditioned team wins in the first ten minutes, maybe less. The opponent is destroyed not just on the scoreboard but their will is broken when an opponent comes out hard and fast.

Good advice.
Of course owners like Daddy smashed any ideas of how teams should and shouldn't be run. You buy it, it's yours to run the way you see fit. If you want to be a Charles Wang or Ed Snider so be it man. :judge:

    May 05, 2024, 02:46:48 PM
  • Daddy: Also agreed. Top quality pitching probably means not much depth. A few injuries can challenge you. Pitching other than top end pitching has been devalued in fantasy. Everyone wants the stud.

  • Daddy: I here to tell you that ALL major league pitching is good pitching. A great hitter beats a terrible pitcher just 3 out of 10 times. Which means the worst pitchers > the greatest hitters.

  • Brent: He had that view b/c of his father who was a blackjack dealer in Vegas.

  • Daddy: Yes @Brent!! That is it exactly. Pitching is the house & it always wins in the end.

  • Daddy: There shouldn't be many innings available in FA in dynasty fantasy leagues IMO. Thats guaranteed money! To hell with High A ball.

  • Braves155: The problem with the minors is not the system as a whole, it is some Farm Systems are more 'elite' at being able to produce talent than others. If you look across MLB teams you can pretty easily tell the great systems from the weaker systems and talent development
    May 05, 2024, 05:57:14 PM
  • Braves155: With regard to pitching in the Minors...there is  method to the madness. It is all about what you make of it tho. I agree that it can seem certain type arms in the minors are a dime a dozen

  • Daddy: Mr Braves you are my guy. There isnt anything wrong with minor league studs or flops. I get it in REAL baseball.
    May 05, 2024, 06:20:28 PM
  • Daddy: This is fantasy baseball. We dont generate revenue selling prospects and merchandising. Our top farms dont get a write up in Sports Illustrated.
    May 05, 2024, 06:22:29 PM
  • Daddy: Load up on MLB guys, then near MLB guys, and only then is the quality of your prospects matter. Ya dig ;)
