6. Lottery AUG1 :SJ: / 8.3

:SJ: Sharks have a legitimate shot at the #1 pick. At least I can dream about owning the number 1 overall draft pick.

I understand Oct 5th is the start of the 2020-21 season.

Love watching hockey in August.

Franchise NHL / Re: UPDATED: 2020 FNHL OFF-SEASON DEADLINES
« on: July 15, 2020, 01:25:38 PM »
The NHL announced the last possible day for the Finals is Oct 4th with the NHL entry draft going betw Oct 9-10.

Looks like FNHL might have to revise our rollover and FA dates... again but with good reason to ensure FNHL is ready for the start of the 2020-21 season possibly in Nov or Dec.
I think the December 1st NHL start date for the 2020-21 season is still tentative given the COVID-19 cloud that hangs over all of us. Are our FNHL dates for Free Agency set in stone or are they tentative for October 5th?

Also, great job by the commissioners to keep things updated with numerous moving target dates from the NHL. :toast:

Franchise NHL / 2019-20 FNHL Overpaid Players (Playoff Edition)
« on: March 17, 2020, 03:58:53 PM »
I'm wondering if there's a reason there's a smaller list of MOST OVERPAID PLAYERS in FNHL.

But here's my attempt at bringing it back for the 2019-20 season. Being the owner of the most OVERPAID player, I think that honour belongs to me.

I've cut and paste this from the 2015-16 post started by Pigsrule and will use it as a evolving post. After the Sharks players, the list is in no particular order.

2011-12 List of overpaid FNHL players
2012-13 List
2013-14 List
2014-15 List
2015-16 List
Who belongs on the 2019-20 List?

  • :SJ: RW - Josh Anderson, $10.3m (2019-2024) - product of a FA bidding war
  • :SJ: LW - Milan Lucic, $5.7m (2019-2023) - there are way cheaper options for the same output on the wing
  • :SJ: LW/RW - Thomas Vanek, $1.6m (2019-2022) - a slow footed FA who refuses to retire at age 36
  • :ANA: D - Damon Severson, $6.0m (2018-2022) - plays like a bottom pairing D
  • :ANA: G - Alex Lyon, $3.6m (2018-2021) - does this guy even have a real shot at the NHL?
  • :CLG: D - Ryan McDonagh, $5.3m (2017-2020) - plays like a 7th or 8th D
  • :CLG: G - Ryan Miller, $7.1m (2017-2021) - retirement material?
  • :LAK: D - Derek Forbort, $3.5m (2018-2021) - not producing even when he's not on on the IR
  • :LV: LW - Patrick Marleau, $4.7m (2018-2021) - 40yo has seen better days
  • :COL-NHL: G - Timur Bilyalov, $5.1m (2019-2022) - until he reaches the NHL, this KHLer is an expensive prospect
  • :COL-NHL: G - Henrik Lundqvist, $13.5m (2017-2022) - on a bad team and past his prime too
  • :STL-NHL: C/LW - Joe Pavelski, $8.3m (2018-2023) - has not been elite this year with the Stars
  • :STL-NHL: D - Nick Holden, $5.2m (2018-2021) - maybe a little more expensive that he should be
  • :WIN: D - Oliwer Kaski, $3.7m (2019-2022) - the result of FA bidding war?
  • :WIN: G - Michael Hutchinson, $5.1m (2017-2020) - blew his chance to remain an NHLer with Leafs
  • :BUF-NHL: C - Martin Hanzal, $2.2m (2018-2021) - played total of 45 games in 3 yrs!!!!
  • :DET-NHL: G - Cory Schneider, $5.8m (2019-2023) - lots of term left on this contract for an AHL goalie
  • :FLO: RW - Corey Perry, $6.6m (2017-2021) - well past expiry date for that contract
  • :FLO: D - Johnny Boychuk, $8.0m (2016-2021) - just an ordinary blueliner nowadays
  • :OTT: LW - Zack Smith, $5.5m (2017-2021) - reminds me of Lucic's contract and scoring output
  • :OTT: G - Calvin Pickard, $4.6m (2018-2021) - stuck in the AHL on a bad team like DET!?!?!
  • :OTT: G - Keith Kinkaid, $5.1m (2017-2021) - stuck in the AHL on a bad team like MTL!?!?!
  • :CLS: C - Ryan Spooner, $3.2m (2018-2021) - someone file a missing persons report on Spooner!
  • :CLS: RW - Cam Atkinson, $7.5m (2018-2023-FP-9.9 ) - he's good but this was a FA bidding war contract
  • :NJD: LW - Matt Martin, $5.1m (2018-2021) - just like Lucic and Zack Smith
  • :NJD: LW - Patrick Maroon, $6.0m (2018-2022) - just like Lucic, Zack Smith and Martin
  • :NJD: RW - Marko Dano, $4.4m (2018-2021) - got paid and left town
  • :NYR: RW - Phil Kessel, $4.5m (2019-2022) - how the mighty have fallen!
  • :NYR: G - Cam Talbot, $8.9m (2019-2024) - too expensive for a backup
  • :PIT-NHL: RW - Tyler Pitlick, $2.7m (2019-2022) - overpaid for a depth guy

Franchise NHL / Re: FNHL Playoff Race: 3 WKS LEFT!
« on: February 10, 2020, 02:16:35 PM »
I’ve made the edit in Fantrax.

There are 3 weeks left in FNHL’s Regular Season!
Players last 5 weeks starting on March 2, with FNHL Finals lasting 2 weeks.
FNHL Deadlines page is correct.

Definitely something messed up with Fantrax.
PPG and I will dig into this glitch!
Great catch Mike! Thank you! :toast:

I agree with MCrow and Dickie Dunn.
Good work by the commissioner to correct the problem.

Being a longshot to make the post season I honestly hadn't noticed the error that suddenly happened on the Fantrax site.

  • Brent: And that's why I haven't traded Carr yet.  Someone doesn't have a QB or thinks they'll get one in FA/draft and might be left wanting.
  • Daddy: @Alpha if a team in MLB LIVE has two starting 1Bs then there is also a team without one.
  • ldsjayhawk: @jwalker I make like 2-3 trades a year for each of my baseball teams, maybe.  I'll tell you part of the reason I don't trade.  Every trade discussion starts out with the other team wanting my top prospect regardless of what I am trading for.  I am not trading Jackson Holliday for your backup catcher who is going to play 20 games this year.

  • Alpha5: Nah cause position eligibility. 1B/OF, 1B,3B etc
    Today at 11:02:48 AM
  • Daddy: CB/S >> DE/LB >> Taysom Hill QB/TE
    Today at 12:06:43 PM
  • Daddy: Football is just harder. You can build a team and 3 years later its irrelevant due to injury, retirement, roster turnover.
  • Alpha5: @ldsjayhawk I get the frustration but you're gonna have to get over that man haha
    Today at 12:29:52 PM
  • Alpha5: And maybe you should trade Jackson Holiday lolol
    Today at 12:32:00 PM
  • Brent: In an offsite league, I inquired about Mason Miller and the guy asked for Jackson Holliday.
  • dbreer23: Is it like a 4 team redraft league?
  • dbreer23: Cris, there is a reason that you are a good owner, bc you can discern a value deal vs. a BS deal. Not all owners are that savvy. They will eventually leave...
  • Brent: Nope, 32-team contract league.
  • ldsjayhawk: I don't have Holiday.  Just used him as an example since he was the #1 prospect
    Today at 12:56:05 PM
  • ldsjayhawk: @Alpha I do make trades.  I am just not giving up the entire farm to land a guy I can get out of the FA pool
    Today at 12:59:21 PM
  • ldsjayhawk: Trading should be a win-win situation for both teams.
  • dbreer23: Agreed. I think the Devers deal in FGM is a good example of that. Devers gives SD some now (and future) pop, giving up substantial pieces to get him (Mayo, Keith, and one other).
  • Brent: I had Holliday in FGM before I stepped away.
  • Brent: I am glad I cut back on leagues, I was spread too thin.
  • Jwalkerjr88: @idsjayhawk i understand that. To be clear, i wasnt judging anyone. I just know in NFL Live, you cant just draft 1-7 rds every year and sign a few FAs and be the champion. It wont happen
    Today at 01:52:08 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: Trading isnt easy. But neither is winning
    Today at 01:52:22 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: If you made a list of the most aggressive gms to have stepped foot in nfl live, you will notice the champions will be among them
    Today at 01:53:06 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: You arent gonna win every trade and you HAVE to have a plan. Ive made some horrible trades. I have every year
    Today at 01:53:50 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: Carolina has kyren williams right now cause i traded him for a 2nd and a 4th. Id rather have kyren today lol
    Today at 01:54:28 PM
  • Brent: Agreed.  I have Amon Ra St. Brown and Aiyuk because I traded JJ.  I couldn't have acquired a player like ASB where I was picking in the 1st so I down tiered at WR to make a trio of Chase, ASB and Aiyuk instead of JJ, Chase and fill in the blank.
  • ldsjayhawk: That is probably even more true in baseball since your drafts don't payoff for 5 years or so.  And I will admit my conservatism may be the reason I only have one championship here at ProFSL
    Today at 02:10:04 PM
  • BayAreaBallers: jwalkerjr88 is right
  • BayAreaBallers: on that u havat trade a bit here and there
    Today at 02:25:57 PM
  • BayAreaBallers: although my last draft class and fa class kinda lead me to a run so it can happen
    Today at 02:27:21 PM
  • Brent: Yeah, it does help to have a big draft class and available cap.
  • Brent: I'm contemplating doing a complete tear down in NFL Live and rebuild.  Honestly, I probably should have postered for it to be this season.  I still might, but I would legit need to go into the draft with 3-4 top 10 picks/+ many others.
  • Brent: postured
  • Jwalkerjr88: Yea nailing drafts and some key FAs helps too. But if you remember BAB you traded alvin kamara for the rams 1-7 draft picks. So the extra picks helped you nail the 2023 draft the way you did
    Today at 03:13:02 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: Its the combination of all three that is required is what im saying
    Today at 03:13:31 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: And brent a tear down with you assets would look interesting. Personally i just think you need break one big asset down into 3 good ones and move carr and go from there. But you have an A1 nfl mind so im sure you will nail whatever it is you decide
    Today at 03:14:39 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: *your
  • BayAreaBallers: very good pt yes i did gain lot of capital which propelled me to make more moves from that trade
    Today at 03:34:25 PM
  • Brent: Thank you.  Yes, I agree.  I do need to break one asset down to 3.  I did that with JJ, went from S tier to 2 A tiers.  Now I need to potentially go from an A tier to 3 Bs or something like that.  I've had some inquiries on Carr, but nothing worth moving him.
  • Alpha5: Guarantee I know who he traded Kamara to for 1-7 without even looking
    Today at 05:22:42 PM
  • BayAreaBallers: alpha it was a good trade at the time
    Today at 05:29:49 PM
  • BayAreaBallers: my team was in the Crapter at that pt
    Today at 05:29:58 PM
  • Brent: Who did you draft with the 1st acquired in that trade?
  • Daddy: Whoever it was, he got six more choices on top of that. The "win win" scenario.
  • Daddy: At that time i had no RB1. So i traded an entire draft class to get one.
  • Daddy: SF doubled up his pick haul and went to work, using them in trades & draft return.
  • Daddy: Then beat me in the NFC Title game.
  • Daddy: RB is a hard position to nail down. If someone wants to trade me 1-7 for Kamara. Step right up.
  • BayAreaBallers: I gotta see what I did
    Today at 06:05:04 PM
  • Daddy: You got better
  • BayAreaBallers: i did so many moves trades and draft that i honestly dunno
