What to make of Ben Sheets' return to the majors? Riddled with injuries, he missed all of 2009, didn't play like himself in 2010, and then missed all of 2011. His recent return to MLB - this time with the Braves
- was a short but sweet outing. He allowed only two hits across six innings of work striking out five batters and walking only one. He certainly earned himself the quality start and the win.
Will Sheets continue to produce? There is obvious reason for concern. Two years ago in Oakland, he wasn't himself, but the guy wasn't horrible. He finished that season with a 1.39 WHIP and 4.53 ERA. Take a look at the career numbers as 2010 compares favorably to his rookie
all-star year of 2001. Flash forward to 2012... Sheets may not pitching heavy innings and is still an injury risk, but this guy is worth picking up and stashing on your bench. Whether you play in
daily leagues,
basic fantasy leagues, or
deep dynasty leagues then Sheets deserves an add.
