Boston Red Sox History :BOS:

2021: 5th in AL East (34-128)
The :BOS: slid into the cellar of the AL East in 2021.  :BOS: did make a mid-season trade and acquired some potential help for the 2022 season in SP Miles Mikolas and CI-OF Cavin Biggio.  :BOS: also shed some egregious contracts and freed up some salary cap to acquire free agents in the future.

2020: 7th in East Division (23-37)
The :BOS: had a tough go in 2020.  Looking at statistics, the team should have done better, but week after week, the losses piled up.  The GM was not as active in the past and that contributed to the team’s lack of success.

2019: 4th in AL East (71-91)
The :BOS: added some free agents during the offseason, but overall, the team was up and down each week and the final season record illustrates how the team underperformed.  The team was strapped with some players who are overpaid and unproductive. The wins were the same as the previous season, but the team slipped one spot in the standings.

2018: 3rd in AL East (71-91)
The :BOS: lineup featured Francisco Lindor, Lorenzo Cain, and Luke Voit, and they performed well, but their pitching was not very productive beyond Rick Porcello.  The team record was an indication that the :BOS: were in need of some arms if they were going to improve.

2017: 2nd in AL East (97-65)
The :BOS: climbed to 2nd in the Division, but they again missed out in securing a spot in the playoffs.  Rich Hill, John Lackey, and Lance Lynn were part of a rotation that was very competitive, but beyond Francisco Lindor, the :BOS: everyday lineup needs to improve enough to make the playoffs.

2016: 2nd in AL East (93-63)
:BOS: had a good season, but were edged out of the AL East Division crown by the :BAL: by a mere two games.  To add insult to injury, the :BOS: finished out of the final Wild Card slot by 3 games to :TEX:, however, with their finish in the 2016 campaign, things are looking bright for them in the upcoming season.

2015: 4th in AL East (38-52)
Jeff

2014: 3rd in AL East (66-75)
Jeff

2013: 3rd in AL East (88-53)
The :BOS: fell to the middle of the AL East in 2013, finishing some 24 games behind division winner :TB:.  Making the playoffs as a Wild Card team, the :BOS: started strong and defeated their nemesis from the previous season, the :OAK:, and advanced to the ALCS.  In the ALCS, the :BOS: made it close, but in the end, were eliminated by the :CLE: by a little over 100 points.

2012: 2nd in AL East (106-54)
After finishing the 2012 season with 106 wins, the :BOS: entered the playoffs as a Wild Card team.  Matched up against the :OAK:, the :BOS: were confident they would do well.  However, :OAK: showed why they were the AL West Champions and cruised to an easy victory and eventually to a World Series Championship.  In spite of the disappointments of the playoffs, the :BOS: had a tremendous season and should be a contender in 2013.

2011: 3rd in AL East (87-75)
Boston continued to regress heading into 2011 failing to win 90 games and once again missing the playoffs for the second straight year.  The franchise went into a different direction headed into the trade deadline by trading their best player, CI Miguel Cabrera and signing young players such as Daniel Murphy, Dexter Fowler, Felipe Paulino as well as acquiring MI Dustin Ackley.  The team heads into 2012 with plenty of cap room and looks to retake the top of the AL East.

2010: 3rd in AL East (90-72)
Eric's inactivity in the front office led to a change in the guard.  Samuel Robinson made big moves quickly by trading away J.D. Drew (for Johnny Gomes from the Reds), trading for Miguel Cabrera, and re-acquiring Jason Bay in free agency.  This helped the team start off with a solid record in the first half.  Eventually, injuries caught up to the real-life Red Sox and his team.  The team, despite winning many games, couldn't keep up with the Blue Jays and Yankees.  His inactivity at the trade deadline, lack of fixing the roster, and extended absence without notice led to his dismissal near the end of the season.

2009: 2nd in NL East (99-63), NL Wildcard
The 2009 season was the first year of this league and was 2nd half only.  The real life Red Sox went on a tear and pushed the Yankees.  The same exact thing happened here, but then GM, Eric Kelley, made very few moves outside of luckily acquiring Miguel Montero to be the backstop.  The Red Sox beat the Angels (per the usual and unlike 2009's real result) and lost to the Yankees in the ALCS.

Management
Jeff Wren (nerwffej) [9/21/10 - ]
Samuel Robinson (daddypadre) [2/9/10 - 9/2/10]
Eric Kelley (EK) [7/1/09 - 1/27/10]
