New York Yankees
2020: 2nd in Eastern Division (50-10)
In a bizarre and mystical season, the Yankees finished 2nd in the realigned Eastern Division and finished 4th overall. Success was had in the Wild Card Round as the #4 seed Yankees defeated the #5 seed Cardinals. But the season came to an abrupt end in the next round at the hands of the Rockies.
2019: 2nd in AL East (110-52)
The
were revitalized when they hired Yeagg as their new GM. Through some shrewd negotiating, Yeagg engineered a variety to trades to free up considerable cap space; which he used to assemble a potent lineup through free agency. Injuries to some key players hurt the
down the stretch, but their improved lineup got them into the playoffs as a Wild Card team. However, their success was stymied by the upstart
and they found themselves on the losing end of the Wild Card matchup. The future is bright for the
under Yeagg's leadership and they will certainly be force to contend with in the AL East in 2020.
2018: 5th in AL East (37-125)
The Yankees slipped into the cellar of the AL East. It’s once vaunted lineup and sparkling rotation was no longer around and the team found itself with multiple holes to plug. On top of that, the Pin Strippers had to survive another management change. The Yankees disastrous season was capped off with yet another GM departure during the off-season.
2017: 4th in AL East (64-98)
OUDAN abruptly left FGM and ProFSL in a mass exodus to another site during the first week of the season. A few days later, a new GM emerged to enthusiastically take over the team . Unfortunately, he inherited a team in a downward spiral and that initial enthusiasm dissipated and he abandoned the team in late June. Another replacement came onboard in August to try and stabilize the franchise. Meanwhile, the Yankees slipped in the standings and missed the playoffs.
2016: 3rd in AL East (92-65)
The AL East had a resurgence of a sorts as the race to the top featured a three team battle. The Orioles won the AL East, but only 2 games ahead of the Red Sox and 3.5 games ahead of the Yankees. This three way battle left the Yankees in the cold as they missed the playoffs and had to watch from the sidelines.
2015: 1st in AL East (66-24)
The Yankees once again advanced to playoffs as the winner of the AL East. The Yankees were looking to build on their championship run in the season before, but those aspirations were dashed by the Boston Red Sox. The Red Sox defeated the Yankees in the Wild Card Round.
2014: 1st in AL East - FGM Champions (108-33)
Felix Hernandez and Johnny Cueto led the Yankees back to the top of the AL East. With an everyday lineup that featured Jose Bautista, the Yankees stormed into the playoffs, defeating the upstart Twins in the 1st Round. Then, in the 2nd Round, the Yankees exacted some revenge from a previous playoff matchup and defeated the the Oakland A’s. In the FGM World Series, the Men in Pin Stripes handled the challenge of the Colorado Rockies and claimed the Championship Trophy
2013: 2nd in AL East (92-49)
The Yankees took a step backwards as injuries devastated their lineup. Although their rotation was again among the league’s best, it was not enough to sustain the team. The end result was a season without a post season as the Yankees missed the playoffs.
2012: AL East Champs (114-46)
The Yankees returned to the playoffs as the AL East Winner and destroyed the Indians in the 1st Round. A strong lineup and a capable staff were not enough, however, as the Bronx Bombers went into a funk and lost to the A’s by a wide margin.
2011: AL East Champs (100-62)
Five weeks into the regular season, with the New York Yankee sitting at 23-17 and two games up on the Blue Jays in the AL East, Corey decided to resign. He wanted to take on a challenge with the Mets organization. Much to the chagrin of taskmaster GMs in the league (for not opening the position internally), Corey found a replacement ahead of time, and Daniel was hired as his successor. Daniel made more moves than most could count. The team was a stellar 77-45 under his watch and won the AL East. The Yankees' playoff success continued to wane as the team once again won one less series. They beat the Indians fairly easily in the ALDS and lost to the rival Blue Jays in the ALCS.
2010:
AL and AL East Champs (97-65)
The off-season brought more riches to the Evil Empire. They had the deep pockets and bought off liability Vernon Wells from the Blue Jays by also acquiring Aaron Hill, Lyle Overbay, and Scott Downs. All that went out the door were the first two Yankee draft picks and Phil Coke. If that wasn't enough, Jim spent extra cash in free agency on a few more players that eventually led to in-season acquisitions of Lincecum and Buehrle. With his team still on top, Jim resigned from his position a month before the trade deadline to pursue other activities.
Corey took over and made several big moves before the deadline such as the acquisitions of Adam Dunn, Nick Markakis, Anibal Sanchez, and Madison Bumgarner. All four of them helped the team's established group of productive veterans to win the AL East once again and make it the World Series. The team, however, could not repeat the 2009 season and fell victim to a surging Dodgers squad in the 2010 World Series.
2009:
World Series, AL East Champs (103-59)
They won it like the real ones did and in the same fashion, but with extra firepower thanks to smooth moves that GM Jim made. He threw out over $10m to acquire young pitching prospects Bud Norris and Marc Rzepczynski. He also acquired Mark DeRosa to play DH and fill in for just about anyone.
