League History tab in fantrax looks like cool feature, where a Commish can add stuff like that. I can see it by having been in the league since 2011-12 (officially I can only view West for that year). You can see past transaction here by Search > uncheck select all > hit exand league list > check and the Franchise NHL boards and then search for something specific. You can see the master roster pages by looking in the official rosters board. I am not sure if it has history relevant information, or just what everyone had on team.

There is a date on the FNHL calendar that references Buy-Out freeze starting March 5, 2018.

I would venture to guess that if my team has a prospect that needs to be promoted and my roster is already at 30 of 30 spots filled, the roster space should be made available prior to March 5th otherwise I will not be able to Buy-Out an active roster player beyond Match 5th and would lose the prospect to Free Agency? Is that correct?

Similarly, what happens to a team with 30 of 30 spots filled and an extra player coming off Long-term Injured Reserve? Does that IR player get activated and released to Free Agency?

:iatp: Mr Blk is correct. Only regular season and if it cuts into our league's plays for the sake of creating a grace period, we don't force teams to sign the MiLR player until the offseason or til contracts rollover.

Looks like a Grace period for rookies exceeding 82 games during the playoffs per PPG's comments above.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I take that to mean grace period during the NHL playoffs, not our playoffs. I think that we are already getting 82 free games, that may be over a couple seasons for some players. Teams in our playoffs shouldn't be able to use more than their 30 roster spots during the playoffs, it would give them an unfair advantage. They essentially could if they should have a minor leaguer signed but don't and swap him for another minor in their lineup. You could have guys play 90 games before being signed officially.

It's not hard to project which of your players will hit 82 games and plan accordingly. The whole point of dropping MILR players to FA if unsigned is to promote awareness and activity in a GMs management of their team. It is a very fitting penalty.

You can't use more than 30 guys because you can't send players with contracts down to the minors on fantrax to get them into the lineup.

You need to have a grace period during the playoffs if there is a buyout freeze. You have to give teams the ability to react. The NHL throws out the salary cap during the playoffs this is nothing new.

Teams have the ability to be proactive, they don't need the ability to react. The owners are smart enough to know who is approaching 82 games.

PPG said last year he had to watch Guetzel, who ended up with exactly 40 games. I know my Caps saved money specifically to give out ELC's.  I have 3 guys over 70 gp right now.

  • Daddy: @Alpha if a team in MLB LIVE has two starting 1Bs then there is also a team without one.
  • ldsjayhawk: @jwalker I make like 2-3 trades a year for each of my baseball teams, maybe.  I'll tell you part of the reason I don't trade.  Every trade discussion starts out with the other team wanting my top prospect regardless of what I am trading for.  I am not trading Jackson Holliday for your backup catcher who is going to play 20 games this year.

  • Brent: Nope, 32-team contract league.
  • ldsjayhawk: I don't have Holiday.  Just used him as an example since he was the #1 prospect
    Today at 12:56:05 PM
  • ldsjayhawk: @Alpha I do make trades.  I am just not giving up the entire farm to land a guy I can get out of the FA pool
    Today at 12:59:21 PM
  • ldsjayhawk: Trading should be a win-win situation for both teams.
  • dbreer23: Agreed. I think the Devers deal in FGM is a good example of that. Devers gives SD some now (and future) pop, giving up substantial pieces to get him (Mayo, Keith, and one other).
