Power Rankings (2011-12)
« on: November 14, 2011, 02:31:26 PM »

Week 23
1) :CHI-NHL: - Put up another 137pts this week and crushed records upon records this season
2) :EDM: - Went for the most points in a week record and came up just short. Looking to carry this weeks performance over to playoffs
3) :BUF-NHL: - Won the battle in the Richard division to gain the title and earn themselves a week off to rest
4) :OTT: - Got caught by the :BOS-NHL: storm but also had an off-week, week off then should be good as new
5) :MON-NHL: - Won but lost at same time, took 4th place in the east but easily a top 5 team in the league, gonna be a challenge though against a hot :BOS-NHL: team
6) :BOS-NHL: - Beat :EDM: then :OTT: to strike fear into all in the Eastern playoffs, going to have another big week to knock out :MON-NHL: though
7) :LA: - Hitting form but hitting teams who are also on their best form. 3 weeks put up over 100pts and not coming out with a win is heartbreaking
8) :TOR-NHL: - Hoping Thomas and Nabokov can step up their game after a poor performance last week. All 6'9" of Zdeno Chara is ready lead his troops into the battle
9) :CLS: - 2 week win streak to beat :DAL-NHL: out of the playoffs and putting up huge points
10) :NYR: - My pick to be the one upset. Kipper is hot and even going to get a game out of Schwartz
11) :COL-NHL: - Going into playoffs cold with under 90pts last week against a hot Columbus team at over 115pts the past 2 weeks, in Rinne they trust
12) :CLG: - Going to be very tough for :CLG: to get the win and coming into playoffs as one of the coldest teams on a current 4 game losing streak
13) :DAL-NHL: - Eliminated from post-season play
14) :VAN: - Eliminated from post-season play
15) :DET-NHL: -  Eliminated from post-season play
16) :WAS-NHL: - Eliminated from post-season play
17) :PIT-NHL: - Eliminated from post-season play
18) :PHI-NHL: - Eliminated from post-season play

Week 21 & 22
1) :CHI-NHL: - If :CHI-NHL: loses again this winning streak may be all for nothing but until that happens they are obvious favourite to win the first Backyard Stanley Cup
2) :OTT: - Completely clowned their division this year, going 9-0 so far and continuing their 7 week win streak
3) :EDM: - Got surprised by BOS last week but can't move up or down in the playoff race. GM wants coach to rest players but coach says no we are playing them
4) :BUF-NHL: - With a win this week, BUF can clinch their division. It is all in their hands
5) :TOR-NHL: - Surprise team for me this, Thomas continues to put up unreal numbers and Nabokov has been a diamond in the rough
6) :MON-NHL: - One of the most consistent teams this year and will go into playoffs looking to continue their battle with BUF
7) :LA: - Getting better but do they now have what it takes to take on the powerhouses in the West. If goalies perform in the playoffs, we could see an upset in the West
8) :BOS-NHL: - Put up the most points last week and so far this week are doing the same. We all know what hot goalies can do but this team is get overall hot, watch out!
9) :COL-NHL: - My bet to win cup at start of season but still fighting to just win their division, hopefully they can turn it around and win me some big Backyard Bucks
10) :NYR: - Sleeper pick for the East division, will just squeak into the playoffs but can put up large numbers if they hit the week just right
11) :CLG: - Very streaky team and currently on a 3 game losing streak. Goaltending has failed this team this year with Niemi as the only solid starter. A Bob trade would benefit this team greatly next season
12) :CLS: - 2-8 within division and 7-5 out of the division, probably one of the happiest teams to see a realignment next season. With a bit of luck and a win this week CBJ might make the playoffs
13) :DET-NHL: - My pick at beginning of year to win the Lemieux division but has under-under achieved. But look out for the Ovechkin-Crosby connection next season
14) :DAL-NHL: - Set the record for trades at 73, record for waiver usage at 49 but inability to field a starting goalie is this team's downfall. Good team up front but saving pucks is falling them
15) :VAN: - The future is bright, except for the $10m man in Reimer is holding them down. At least they have great tender in Fleury to pick up the weight
16) :PIT-NHL: - With a $3.0m committment to the 2nd overall pick, do we see PIT trade their pick to move down in the draft or maybe send out someone to make space?
17) :WAS-NHL: - Since trade deadline haven't won a game and on a 7 game losing streak
18) :PHI-NHL: - Officially out of playoffs and have clinched the 1st overall selection in the 2012 Entry Draft. Is Yakupov this franchises saviour?

Week 20 - by Tony
1) :CHI-NHL: Extended win steak to 9 games and tied the league record. Now is two wins from claiming the Presidents' Trophy.
2) :EDM: Team is starting to roll now and putting up big points. Might have hard time this week as they have some injury problems in goal.
3)  :OTT: Team getting much more respect of late. Picked up more scoring punch with the additions of Joe Pavelski and Marian Gaborik. Currently on a 5 game winning streak.
4) :MON-NHL: Once thought to be the top team in the league but now having a hard time clinching their division. Very tough lost last week.
5) :BUF-NHL: Still one of the most feared teams in the league. Nobody wants this team to be 100% healthy. Well maybe the only exception being favo-zomg.
6) :LA: Team has had a huge turn around since the new GM took over. We will see how they do in the playoffs.
7) :TOR-NHL: This team has had their ups and downs. Looks great for a couple weeks then not so great the next. Will goaltending be the downfall?
8) :COL-NHL: Holding on to the Division lead by a few fantasy points. Hurts to have Datsyuk and Backstrom out.
9) :CLG: They have been play well of late but only having one starting goalie could hurt in the playoffs. Bobrovsky could make the difference if he starts more.
10) :NYR: A win this week will officially clinch them a playoff spot. They have been quietly putting up decent points on a consistent basis.
11) :BOS-NHL: Big upset against Buffalo last week. Needs to be more consistent to move up the rankings.
12) :CLS: Has not been good in division games going 1 - 7. Steve Mason has been a huge disappointment this year. Likely to miss playoffs unless they win out and get some help.
13) :DAL-NHL: Sitting in a playoff spot but has not been looking great in the last few weeks. Could still lose all remaining games and squeak in.
14) :PIT-NHL: Team has a great core in Sedin, Versteeg, Kane, Vrbata, St. Louis, Pietrangelo, Johnson, and Miller. Should see a much better team next year.
15) :VAN: Won't get into playoffs but Fleury will help this team next year. Rumor of a possible Riemer buyout?
16) :WAS-NHL: Was not a good year but has a bright future with Coyle, Raymond, Morin, Gormley, Kuznetsov, Holtby and a top 5 pick.
17) :DET-NHL: Biggest disappointment this year. Was expecting to do much better as they were ranked #5 at the beginning of the season. There is always year.
18) :PHI-NHL: Heading for their 2nd consecutive last place finish. Only good thing is the 1st overall pick.

Week 19
1) :CHI-NHL: - That is 8 wins in a row for CHI and broke their own record, can they be stopped?
2) :EDM: - Along with CHI has clinched a bye in the first round of playoffs, tough match against CGY this week
3) :OTT: - Ottawa needs Crawford to play but being lead by Malkin, Lundy, and Gabby so Craw can take his time
4) :MON-NHL: - Biggest game of the season this week against OTT, a win almost takes the Richard
5) :CLG: - Slowly becoming a team to watch, 5 game winning streak takes them from 5-9 to 10-9
6) :BUF-NHL: - Buffalo looking to regain confidence after losses to LA and MON
7) :LA: - LA's pick ups have been paying off, Schenn and Benn are playing great
8) :TOR-NHL: - Could dealing Elliott be their downfall in the playoffs? Already clinched the Howe
9) :COL-NHL: - Gagner cooled off and so did COL. Rinne is carrying the load on the end
10) :NYR: - Consistently putting up around 100 pts and pushing for that final playoff spot
11) :CLS: - When goalies are firing CBJ can be a force but when not they can be a push-over
12) :BOS-NHL: - This team heats up then cools down week to week
13) :DAL-NHL: - A win just doesn't feel like a win when you score 69 pts
14) :VAN: - Been much better as of late but might be too little too late
15) :PIT-NHL: - Also over 100 pts but also another loss
16) :WAS-NHL: - Officially rebuilding with the departures of Khabby, Kronwall and Karlsson
17) :PHI-NHL: - Will this be the week Philly ends their losing streak? Over 100 pts last week
18) :DET-NHL: - Been a tough season for DET and now restocking and reloading, Crosby and Ovi are a good start for next season

Week 18
1) :CHI-NHL: - Another week and another win, eventually they will be beaten again
2) :EDM: - Too bad EDM wasn't playing CHI this week but rocked MON
3) :MON-NHL: - Loss to EDM now makes the battle in Richard even closer
4) :OTT: - 3 week winning streak has them claiming the Orr Division
5) :BUF-NHL: - Buffalo has to play LA this week and at least one more against MON. All will be tough
6) :TOR-NHL: - 12-6 is an excellent record and will take them to top of Howe division
7) :COL-NHL: - Just edged out NYR by under 0.5pts to stake their claim as a top 10 team
8) :BOS-NHL: - Tough week playing CHI by still a good sleeper pick in the playoffs
9) :CLG: - I guess I shouldn't make fun of teams. CGY has won 4 straight, take that Drew
10) :LA: - Reforming into a good team and may surprise some teams in playoffs
11) :NYR: - Could be the best team to miss playoffs but they are sure trying to edge out WAS
12) :CLS: - Battling with DAL for that last playoff spot in the west
13) :WAS-NHL: - Need wins to make playoffs but looking towards next season instead
14) :VAN: - I make fun of Reimer what does he do, get 2 shutouts and 3 wins, still not worth $10.0m
15) :PIT-NHL: - I believe they will look much better next season but for this season not so good
16) :DAL-NHL: - With recent trades, we are all wondering did DAL get better or worse
17) :DET-NHL: - Looking to next season and now have the Crosby-Ovechkin combo
18) :PHI-NHL: - Another tough week in Philly, but finally have Jarome committed for next season

Week 16 & 17
1) :CHI-NHL: - Extended winning streak to 6 games and could be first team to clinch their division
2) :MON-NHL: - MON ties up the BUF series at 2-2 and now plays EDM this week
3) :EDM: - Starting to get healthy and gearing up for the playoffs
4) :OTT: - OTT has D. Sedin and Malkin firing on all cylinders
5) :BUF-NHL: - Lose to MON doesn't phase them because they are the Buffs
6) :TOR-NHL: - At 11-6 they want to be one of those top but traded Elliott and laying all their chips on Thomas
7) :BOS-NHL: - Putting up respectable points each week lately and could be the sleeper pick in the playoffs
8) :COL-NHL: - Cooled off with a loss to CGY but the best in their division
9) :LA: - Making moves that set them up for the future and now, Schneider is now a King
10) :NYR: - They are sending fire balls and sometimes they hit. Can put up 100+ or 70- you never know
11) :CLG: - The most non-threaten team that is around .500. but did beat a division rival in COL
12) :DAL-NHL: - They are officially ruled themselves out of playoffs even though they are in. Rebuild has begun
13) :PIT-NHL: - Pittsburgh's wins have now came EDM, BUF, MON and LA. We shall call them the giant killer
14) :CLS: - Would love to see this team in a different division and Mason to start playing like his Calder self
15) :WAS-NHL: - Khabby can't reclaim his early season success but Dubnyk is stepping up now
16) :VAN: - Reimer for $10.0m? Ouch! VAN should have let DAL deal with their own mistake
17) :DET-NHL: - 7 losses in a row and competing with PHI for the 1st overall pick
18) :PHI-NHL: - After going 1-7 last year, we thought it was bad management but the Flyers need a change.

Week 15
1) :CHI-NHL:
2) :BUF-NHL:
3) :EDM:
4) :OTT:
5) :MON-NHL:
6) :COL-NHL:
7) :TOR-NHL:
8) :DAL-NHL:
9) :NYR:
10) :BOS-NHL:
11) :CLS:
12) :LA:
13) :CLG:
14) :WAS-NHL:
15) :PIT-NHL:
16) :VAN:
17) :DET-NHL:
18) :PHI-NHL:

Week 14
1) :CHI-NHL: - Another good week knocking off OTT onto EDM this week
2) :EDM: - Two of the top Oilers went down this week but still put up good numbers
3) :OTT: - Tough loss to CHI and now pulls COL this week, let's see how they do
4) :BUF-NHL: - The consistency of the Buffs is unreal and they also welcomed back favo_zomg this week
5) :TOR-NHL: - Time for TOR to prove themselves, playing BUF this week
6) :MON-NHL: - Now that is the MON that we know so far this season put up 115+ pts
7) :BOS-NHL: - Krejci, Seguin, and Erikkson along with the goalie crew and rising fast and hard
8) :DAL-NHL: - Back in the win column but always have trouble when playing the tougher teams
9) :LA: - Their back, well at least for this week
10) :COL-NHL: - Could be a surprise in the playoffs if they heat up at the right time
11) :NYR: - Pick up win #5 on the season but how long can 1 goalie keep them in the mix
12) :CLS: - Probably will make the playoffs but just missing that one link
13) :WAS-NHL: - Goalies have been sub-par but still looking to break in at the 6th seed
14) :DET-NHL: - This team should be leading their division not bottom feeding but still in hunt
15) :CLG: - At 5-9 and still in the hunt for division title, that's the Lemieux division for ya
16) :PIT-NHL: - At least this team has turn it around with 3 wins on the season
17) :PHI-NHL: - It's deja vu for Philly as they attempt to begin a rebuild for next season
18) :VAN: - If this team's under 21 players started playing they would be much better

Week 13
1) :CHI-NHL: - Averaging over 100 points a week and appearing to be the force in Backyard
2) :OTT: - Perform when needed but haven't shown much in the last couple week but still tops in Backyard
3) :EDM: - Health is the biggest issue, Oilers have been dropping like flies lately
4) :BUF-NHL: - The Big Bad Buffs continue to do what they do best, "win"
5) :TOR-NHL: - Moving on up is exactly opposite to what the real Leafs are doing, 3 straight wins for TOR
6) :MON-NHL: - Very un-Montreallike losing 2 weeks straight but lost their GM so expect a quick turn around
7) :COL-NHL: - 4 wins in a row and this aren't your grandma's wins they are 100 pt wins
8) :CLS: - If Mason can keep it up, CBJ could become a very scary team
9) :DAL-NHL: - Loses to CHI and EDM were tough but DAL is still pushing for playoff spot in the West
10) :BOS-NHL: - Heating up and coming for you are the Bruins and their crew
11) :CLG: - Perry underperforming and Skinner hurt doesn't equal good things for CGY
12) :NYR: - Starting to put up decent numbers and mostly bad luck having to play BUF
13) :WAS-NHL: - Living and dying with the EDM goalie tandem, bright spots are Vanek and Kopitar
14) :DET-NHL: - Consistent goaltending is the biggest issue in DET. Sedin is the man in town
15) :PIT-NHL: - Pittsburgh has beaten EDM, BUF, and MON. Not bad
16) :LA: - Suffering from the biggest fall in Backyard history with their 6 straight loss
17) :VAN: - Good numbers this week but not enough to beat CHI when they put up 121
18) :PHI-NHL: - Now leading the race in the Nail Yakupov sweepstakes

No Week 12 Power Rankings due to Christmas

Week 11
1) :BUF-NHL: - New GM but same result, Who is Olli Jokinen?
2) :MON-NHL: - Got caught on an off week by the consistent Buffs and suffer their first loss in a long time
3) :OTT: - PHI just about got them but OTT was able to hold them off and just another win
4) :EDM: - Handed LA their 4th loss in a row and now have 3 Dallas goalies in their rotation
5) :CHI-NHL: - CBJ got them this week and CHI's goalies didn't help only contributing 4.25pts
6) :TOR-NHL: - Wow I am sure they are hoping Thomas can play that good every week
7) :DAL-NHL: - After a brutal 2010-11 season this team is now over .500, matchup against CHI to prove themselves
8) :LA: - In a downward free fall, lost 4th in a row and also lost their GM
9) :CLS: - That is 3 wins in a row but tough match against EDM this week, fighting for a playoff spot
10) :COL-NHL: - Huge week by them Avalanche, might have something to do with Pekka Rinne
11) :BOS-NHL: - BOS/OTT will be a big matchup this week but will either team's goalies show?
12) :DET-NHL: - On paper a very good team but when it comes down to it don't produce enough
13) :WAS-NHL: - Got the win but easily could have lost as well
14) :NYR: - Put up solid numbers but had no chance against TOR's 120pts
15) :PIT-NHL: - Team seems to be heading in the right direction but couldn't make it 2 wins in a row
16) :PHI-NHL: - Gave OTT a run but had 3 players with 0pts this week
17) :CLG: - Solid week but 3 losses in a row and lost Skinner to injury
18) :VAN: - Lowest point total put up by any team this week and just struggling all around

Week 10
The week of upsets but still wasn't enough to knock the top teams off their peaks.

1) :MON-NHL: - Yep they are the top team again, took out LA this week
2) :CHI-NHL: - Showed that they mean business putting up 127pts this week
3) :EDM: - Stumbled due to injuries and poor goaltending, key matchup against LA this week
4) :OTT: - Also faulted this week losing to NYR, expect a good bounce back against the new PHI team
5) :BUF-NHL: - Lost their golden GM but still managed the win against DAL
6) :LA: - Third loss in a row, could see some more changes in the roster soon
7) :DAL-NHL: - The best 5-5 team in Backyard and really should be better, great effort this week
8) :DET-NHL: - 2 wins in a row thing seem to be working (finally) in the Motor City
9) :TOR-NHL: - New GM is ready to push this team in the mediocre Howe Division
10) :COL-NHL: - Another good week with a well rounded attack from all positions
11) :CLS: - If only they weren't in the Gretzky Division, 0-4 in division and 4-2 out of division
12) :CLG: - Playing the waiting game with Perry. Skinner is having a good sophomore season
13) :BOS-NHL: - Inconsistently is the problem and need to maybe make a trade to change it up
14) :WAS-NHL: - Kopitar and Vanek do their best but their best only does so much
15) :NYR: - Took out OTT with new GM while amassing highest weekly point total for this team
16) :PHI-NHL: - Big win by PHI against TOR but let's see how they fair against OTT this week
17) :PIT-NHL: - Got a win this week against EDM but still have a steep climb ahead
18) :VAN: - 49pts this week and a 3-7 record means you land at bottom of power rankings

Week 9
1) :MON-NHL: - Team continues to roll and just got scarier by picking up future HOFer Lidstrom
2) :OTT: - Impressive week has turned me into a OTT believer
3) :EDM: - Another classic Sunday from EDM against a surprising COL team
4) :CHI-NHL: - Broke record for most points in a week and broke Pittsburgh's heart
5) :LA: - A powerhouse that is failing to fire on all cylinders, 2nd loss in a row and not getting easier against MON this week
6) :BUF-NHL: - 9 weeks over 900 points, 6-3 record doesn't do this team justice
7) :DAL-NHL: - Took out LA and now onto BUF, with a win will definitely jump up in the rankings
8) :BOS-NHL: - Goalies are coming back to life as well as Heatley and Couture, good week for this team
9) :DET-NHL: - Some players with big price tags not producing but tied for 1st in Lemieux
10) :CLG: - Team can put up 100+ points one week and falter the next week, needs more consistency
11) :TOR-NHL: - Previously beat LA now lost to CBJ, weird turn of events for TOR
12) :WAS-NHL:- Team lives and dies with their dmen and goalies, but still at respectable 4-5
13) :CLS: - Win this week with only 82 pts, matchup against VAN could push CBJ for a playoff spot
14) :COL-NHL: - What a week by Matt Moulson but wasn't enough to get COL out of their funk
15) :VAN: - Weber and Stamkos can't do it by themselves boys.
16) :NYR: - New GM and new vision, abbyroad is allowed to make trades this week and except change in New York
17) :PHI-NHL: - Lowest point total this season at 573, when you putting sub 65 pts a week your not going to win in this league
18) :PIT-NHL: - Could turn into huge sellers at 0-9, chips include H. Sedin, Kane, St. Louis, Johnson

Week 8
1) :MON-NHL: - This team continues to impress, let's see how long they can hold the #1 spot
2) :EDM: - 5 points away from breaking weekly points record, thank god Crosby is back
3) :LA: - Off week for LA but still one of the top teams in Backyard
4) :BUF-NHL: - Putting up 100+ points every week, Miller's injury is BUF's gain
5) :OTT: - 7-1 has the team tied for 1st in the league but Lehtonen's injury could hurt this team
6) :CHI-NHL: - Top teams seem to win weekly and that's what CHI did in a close match-up with DAL
7) :TOR-NHL: - When you take out a giant your on a fast track to the top
8) :CLG: - Perry and goaltending tandem lead CGY to top of division
9) :DAL-NHL: - CHI = loss, what does LA and BUF equal in the next two weeks
10) :WAS-NHL: - Here is to hoping Khabby can not play his age. Defense is solid on this team
11) :VAN: - Youth has failed thus far but Stamkos is something to watch, tough match against OTT this week
12) :BOS-NHL: - Team appears to be heading in right direction with Seguin and Richards leading the way
13) :CLS: - If only CBJ could get into a different division, hard to play LA and EDM weekly and get wins
14) :COL-NHL: - The fall has been hard, 3 week losing streak and drew EDM this week as well.
15) :DET-NHL: - It's weird to see a team that has Sedin, Pavelski, and Staal losing but what can you do
16) :PHI-NHL: - Put up a dismal 58pts in week 8 and that won't get you a win ever.
17) :NYR: - New GM is on the way and hopefully they bring some wins
18) :PIT-NHL: - 0-8 prompts the beginning of a rebuilding phase, lots of good players here though

Week 7

16) :PIT-NHL:
17) :PHI-NHL:
18) :NYR:

Week 6
1) :LA: - Only undefeated team left in BY at 6-0. Big matchup against EDM in Week 7
2) :EDM: - Sunday is proving to be a key day for this team winning for the second week on Sunday
3) :MON-NHL: - Continues to fire. Smith's great play has been key to success
4) :OTT: - Got back to their normal ways but were stomped by the Buffs
5) :BUF-NHL: - Tough schedule in the past weeks (CHI, EDM, OTT) and now MON this week
6) :CHI-NHL: - Got back in the win column this week
7) :DET-NHL: - 107 points is huge and will get you the win more times then not
8) :BOS-NHL: - Halak is alive but Varly now died. Could be bad news for teams when they both come to live at the same time
9) :COL-NHL: -  Don't know whether this team is a contender or an average team
10) :DAL-NHL: - A loss to CGY really hurts, see if DAL can bounce back against VAN
11) :WAS-NHL: - Hard to believe this team once had Bryz and the King in net
12) :NYR: - Showing their veteran savvy and pushed EDM to the limit
13) :TOR-NHL: - In a bit of a funk, tough matchup for the Buds against NYR upcoming
14) :CLG: - 2 week winning streak is always a good thing and have something to prove against COL this week
15) :VAN: - Playing the waiting game with Reimer, the sooner he is back the better
16) :CLS: - Team just can't keep their early week pace and loss matchup later in the week
17) :PHI-NHL: - GM went into hiding after a poor performance by his team
18) :PIT-NHL: - 0-6 things just not clicking for this team, expecting changes soon

Week 5
1) :LA: - Might have lost had WSH not had IR Issues but are undefeated thus far
2) :OTT: - Also didn't have to try this week and didn't seem like they were trying either, 5-0 though
3) :EDM: - Took out a powerhouse in BUF in probably the match-up of the year. Final score 117.5-115.8
4) :MON-NHL: - Wow. 2 weeks in a row MON went over 100 points and killed CHI. Watch out.
5) :BUF-NHL: - Quite the match-up against EDM but isn't looking back and continuing on to the next team
6) :CHI-NHL: - Lost 2 weeks in a row. Let's see if they bounce back this week
7) :TOR-NHL: - IR Issue got the best of them but it is fixed and looking to make amends
8) :DAL-NHL: - 3 wins in a row is unheard of in Texas. Extra note Roloson outscored Luongo
9) :VAN: - Stamoks is playing like a 8m man and Harding was the surprise of the week
10) :COL-NHL: - COL is flying under the radar at 3-2, never scoring high but getting their wins
11) :WAS-NHL: - If Khabibulin continues to play the way he is WAS will be just fine
12) :DET-NHL: - Sedin can't do it by himself. Goalies need to step up
13) :NYR: - Got their second win in a solid outing by the Blueshirts
14) :CLS: - After a huge week 4, CBJ has a lackluster week 5 and drops right back down in the rankings
15) :BOS-NHL: - Halak made a disappearing act and Varlamov had a bad week, see if goalies catch heat
16) :PHI-NHL: - Lost 4 in a row and averaging about 60 points a week just isn't good enough
17) :CLG: - Got 1st win of season but wasn't much to brag about. Big match against DAL this week
18) :PIT-NHL: - Only team at 0-5. Miller went to goalie heaven but forwards might be able to win this team some games

Week 4
1) :LA: - Took out CHI and EDM in back to back weeks. A force to be reckoned with.
2) :OTT: - Not an impressive win, but a win is a win and team is 4 and 0.
3) :TOR-NHL: - Selanne and Pleks lead the charge. Team scored 107 points this period.
4) :CHI-NHL: - Just couldn't relive a week 3 repeat and LA hands CHI their first loss of the season
5) :EDM: - Second most points this week, Eberle and Getzlaf were top scorers
6) :BUF-NHL: - Again put up their consistent 100 points, look for a big jump if they beat EDM this week
7) :MON-NHL: - Goalies came out to play this week and Giroux played like a man possessed
8) :CLS: - 119 points will bump you up the power rankings really quick
9) :DAL-NHL: - 2 wins in a row, studs abound but can old man in net lead them to move wins
10) :WAS-NHL: - Won against BOS but may be a big loss this week if IR problem isn't solved
11) :BOS-NHL: - Close match-up with WAS but still wondering if Halak will come out of his shell
12) :COL-NHL: - Slowly declining down the standings can they turn it around this week after 2 losses in a row
13) :PHI-NHL: - Will Luongo be the missing piece? Centers will have to step it up with Richards and Malkin now gone
14) :VAN: - Stamoks and Weber came out to play but other members missed the memo
15) :NYR: - After first win of the season NYR faltered in week 4 and may be turning to a rebuild
16) :DET-NHL: - 49 points will put you down the power rankings real fast
17) :PIT-NHL: - Getting to be decision time in PIT, to rebuild or not to rebuild after an 0-4 start
18) :CLG: - Niemi is back but team just isn't clicking and lead to a 0-3 start to the season

Week 3
1) :CHI-NHL: - Knocked off the #1 team from last week. Quick and Vokoun stole the show, most points overall through season
2) :LA: - Another solid week for the Kings ensemble, another week like last week and could be on top
3) :OTT: - 3 and 0 baby. Kari still playing like a beast and Hank is King
4) :EDM: - Bounce back week after loss to LA. Good numbers for goalies and skaters
5) :TOR-NHL: - I guess they are for real. Every skater was contributing
6) :BUF-NHL: - Probably lowest power ranking ever for the Sabres, is this the fall of a dynasty?
7) :MON-NHL: - Almost a 100 point week and not much of it came from the goalies
8) :DET-NHL: - The battle for Lemeuix division is heating up with DET easily handling COL this week
9) :COL-NHL: - Showed no fight last week and another week like that and 2 wins could be all COL gets
10) :PHI-NHL: - Gave OTT quite a run last week, the wins will come for this franchise if they put up those numbers week in and week out
11) :BOS-NHL: - Halak still yet to put up any valuable numbers, BOS season could be down hole if Halak doesn't step it up
12) :VAN: - Couldn't beat DAL and Reimer is out for the week, match-up against EDM not looking good
13) :DAL-NHL: - Got first win of season but it was less then impressive, won 66.95 to 65.65
14) :WAS-NHL: - Put up a dismal 61 points and suffered a loss to NYR, shame shame WAS
15) :NYR: - First win of the season for NYR, sign of things to come or a fluke?
16) :PIT-NHL: - Put up a respectable 91 points but still 0-3 but you can't blame that on Miller
17) :CLS: - 0-3 start but playing in one of the toughest divisions in Backyard. Playing CGY this week
18) :CLG: - Niemi is back but team just isn't clicking and lead to a 0-3 start to the season

Week 2
1) :BUF-NHL: - Another impressive week by BUF but top teams usually don't trade, we shall see
2) :LA: - Most points overall this week, surprising contributions from Jones and Landeskog
3) :OTT: - Not a huge week by OTT but enough for the win and a 2 and 0 start
4) :CHI-NHL: - Kessel and Co. pull out another win against formidable VAN offense
5) :COL-NHL: - Just sneaked out another win to get them to 2-0
6) :TOR-NHL: - Very strong week by TOR but will goalies be their Achilles heel.
7) :EDM: - Didn't put up much of a fight, will big trade prove to be a stud or dud
8) :BOS-NHL: - Halak still under-performing but Varlamov was a beast
9) :DET-NHL: - Solid bounce back by DET, D. Sedin and Shattenkirk were the men
10) :VAN: - Top skater only had a disappointing 4.8 points, but a surprising 12 points from Schneider
11) :WAS-NHL: - 53 points from their skaters but 0.5 points from the goalies doesn't equal a win
12) :MON-NHL: - Lowest points put up by a winning team and if not for Tavares probably would have lost
13) :CLS: - Loss by 1 point again this week, but another tough match-up against EDM this week
14) :PHI-NHL: - Only 2 points contributed from the goalies won't get you a win any week
15) :DAL-NHL: - Picked up Luongo, will that be the difference maker?
16) :PIT-NHL: - Not much of a chance against BUF but Kane and Henrik had good weeks
17) :CLG: - The RW magic has been absent so far this season
18) :NYR: - Didn't put up the least amount of points but still not looking strong

Week 1
1) :BUF-NHL: - 65 pts were the highest this week. Proving why they were the team to beat last season.
2) :OTT: - Second most points this week and strong goaltending along with Letang proved key
3) :VAN: - Probably biggest surprise this week but no Reimer this week could be a problem
4) :LA: - Just squeezed by CBJ but got strong contributions from the goalies
5) :EDM:- DET didn't set line up and EDM came out with default win. No huge scorer though this week
6) :CHI-NHL: - Phil Kessel had a huge week but now doesn't play for a week can CHI do it without him
7) :COL-NHL: - Just edged out CAL in a low-scoring affair. Be watching the CBJ match-up this week
8) :WAS-NHL: - New season same result, a WAS win
9) :MON-NHL: - When a team puts up 65 points in 4 days you don't have much of a chance. Toews and Zetterberg lead the scoring this week
10) :TOR-NHL: - Pushed WAS to the limit, every player was contributing
11) :PHI-NHL: - Didn't have to do much against NYR. Dwayne Roloson was a solid contributor
12) :DAL-NHL: - Put up a good effort against CHI but just wasn't enough
13) :CLS: - Gave LA a run for their money in the short week, sign of things to come?
14) :PIT-NHL: - Big week from Miller but still couldn't take down VAN.
15) :BOS-NHL: - Halak under-performed and allowed OTT to slip in a take the week
16) :CLG: - Close low-scoring match against COL but came out on the short end of the stick
17) :DET-NHL: - Didn't set their line-up this week and starting in a hole
18) :NYR: - Didn't put up much of a fight against PHI last week. Can this team pull it together?

Pre-Season
1) :EDM: - Team set up to do big things this season. Lots of youth and stars a plenty. Firing from all positions.
2) :LA: - Will the 6 headed monster prove to be the perfect formula. Ovie, Hall, Duchene, Carter ready for action.
3) :BUF-NHL: - Last year's president trophy winner will be a force again this season.
4) :OTT: - Solid all around team. Power will come from all forward positions.
5) :DET-NHL: - Lots of star power here. Can the studs pull this Red Wing boat?
6) :CHI-NHL: - 3 solid starts in net. But not much star power out front but most solid contributors
7) :DAL-NHL: - A complete remodel of the team "yet again" has things looking up in Dallas
8) :COL-NHL: - All around solid contributions for every position but goaltending is a question mark
9) :MON-NHL: - A contender throughout last season has a good shot to make noise again.
10) :VAN: - Vancouver depending on rookies to make the difference and that Reimer is the thing in TO
11) :BOS-NHL: - Defense has some holes but goalies and center ice are strong.
12) :CLS: - Little change after last season but solid goaltending will prove key
13) :TOR-NHL: - Was last season a drafting fluke? Big turnover may be the downfall of Toronto
14) :CLG: - RW's will be key for Calgary to do well this season. Defense is very solid.
15) :PIT-NHL: - Miller will be solid on back end but not much other help. Kane and Hank will provide the offense.
16) :PHI-NHL: - Ryan, Malkin, and Dubinsky will lead this team who finally have a committed owner.
17) :WAS-NHL: - After having one of the most solid goaltending duo last season, goalies may be this team's downfall
18) :NYR: - Just seems to be missing some pieces. Riding on the veteran leadership on the back end

  • Jon: daddy, your the only game in town now for CFB on the board.  I removed Fansville as i decided i am not giving any more money to Fantrax for premium settings.  My leagues are free

  • Braves155: MLB LIVE :NYY: has OF for trade looking for INF/pitching
    April 21, 2024, 01:51:13 PM
  • Daddy: Its always better for the site to have at least 2 leagues for each sport. However @Jon i understand the decision.
    April 21, 2024, 01:53:02 PM
  • Daddy: Fantrax fees do get expensive. Its like $110-$120 per league per year and when its all out of your own pocket and you do most of the work, its hard to find value in that.
    April 21, 2024, 01:55:06 PM
  • Daddy: Its like i been gone for a month all these PMs. Lordy! I hope its some trade talk in there.
