Buffalo announces a deal that allows our team to continue the youth movement we started in 2017.

We get young players and a pair of draft picks to build up our roster. I like that. We will move forward with a younger goalie in Tristan Jarry who like Darling has a somewhat uncertain future but we feel has good upside that we're willing to wait for. Kings to confirm. Thanks Godzilla.

LA Kings agree to this deal. We want a better backup than Peter Budaj. I think Darling can do way better than what he showed us last yr especially with a new GM and HC on the way in Carolina. With the addition of Kovie at a relatively cheap cap hit and who we're hoping signs a new deal with a big contender in the NHL, we're looking at a competitive roster for the upcoming season. LA Kings are adding 6.3m in cap with this deal but we have 1m available now and when contracts rollover we expect to get back 13.7m from expired buyouts that finished getting paid out in 2017-18. We should be good to go for this in terms of cap space.

I think that the Sabres could have gotten a bit more for Darling and Kovy, but Jarry is a valuable and promising G prospect. Though he is stuck behind a young Murray in Pittsburgh. Buffalo also save some valuable cap space with this deal.

This is a good trade for both guys. Jarry is going to play sooner than later as a starter or backup somewhere. Darling and Kovie are high risk/high reward type players with a limited shelf life.

I have to say with the NHL Kings sigining Kovy today this deal looks like a great move for FNHL's Kings.

Let me say I think some of you guys are NHL GMs in training here. HAHAHA
The fact Rob Blake signed Ilya Kovalchuk today and Godzilla acquired Kovy for his FNHL Kings back in April seems like too much of a coincidence. But that's just me.
