Title: Anaheim & Buffalo Trade
Post by: TheBeef on April 26, 2018, 02:48:07 PM
:ANA: Ducks get
Evgeny Kuznetsov, $7.1m (2016-2020)

:BUF-NHL: Sabres get
Tomas Hertl, $5.5m (2016-2020)
Round 3 - 2018  (from :DET-NHL:*; originally :NJD:)

Buffalo got a call and talked over swapping some young guns. I like that we're getting another draft pick to further develop my minor league team. Ducks to confirm. Thanks Gr8O.

The Ducks confirm.

I get a top young C in Kuznetsov who I think is a better player than Hertl. I also have players that can take over Hertl’s spot as a starting LW. I was hoping to get a goalie with the pick but I couldn’t pass up on this trade since I don’t know if any good goalies will be left in the 3rd round of the entry draft.

Thanks for the easy trade TheBeef.

Drafting goalies is like gambling. And in this league like you said, there might not be any goalies left by the time Rd3 rolls around.

I think Hertl has room to improve and is a good young player, but I don't think he will be as good as Kuzy. I think Anaheim get the win here. As much as I love draft picks, I don't know that a third makes up for gap. Though Buffalo also gets some more cap space, so who knows what plans they have for future trades or FA.

What Izaman said. Think there was more to be had with Kuznetsov. :iatp:

Perhaps in hindsight Buffalo could've asked for more in return seeing as how Kuznetsov is now a Stanley Cup Champion. I'll give the edge to :ANA:

:thumbsup::iatp: The guy that got the NHL Stanley Cup champion player is the one that won this deal IMO.

It will also be interesting to see how Kuznetsov does with a new head coach as well.
