Title: Ducks-Hurricanes Trade
Post by: halo99 on September 20, 2017, 12:55:09 PM
Anaheim Trades:
Wayne Simmonds, $6.1m (2014-2018)
Colton Parayko, $5.7m (2017-2021)

Carolina Trades
Jesse Puljujarvi, $3.0m (2016-2019-EL)
Alex Galchenyuk, $5.8m (2016-2020)
Mark Stuart, $1.1m (2017-2019)

This is the other shoe that needed to drop after yesterday's trade. Puljujarvi will be a star and Galchenyuk is a good young player but Carolina is in win now mode. Simmonds and Parayko should make an immediate impact this year. After this season the Ducks win the trade which I'm ok with giving the state of the future prospects we have in the minors.

Ducks to Confirm.

The Ducks confirm this trade.

I hated to see both players go but Simmonds was going to cost a lot to resign so it was better to get something now then to possibly not resign him and get nothing in return. I also hated to see Parayko go as well but hopefully I have his replacement in Theodore or another Dman that can maybe take his place for far cheaper contract. Otherwise hopefully I can get one in FA that is just as good at some point.

I get 2 very young forwards on great contracts with a lot of potential that will help with the rebuild of the Ducks. They will add to the stability of my other forwards for a few years until they need to be resigned. Mark Stuart was probably just a throw in to get the salaries closer together. In any case I do plan on buying him out since I won't have the room for him and not part of the rebuilding process because of his age.

Thanks for the trade halo99 and hope it helps you this coming season and me long term.

Approve

This is a great deal for both sides. Ducks get value and good young players for a contract they weren't going to re-sign.

Approved.

In Puljujarvi, Ducks are acquiring pure potential. Whether he can produce in the NHL remains to be seen. Galchenyuk is signed to a reasonable contract given his age and production. This is an immediate Win for Carolina with Anaheim potentially breaking even in the future if Puljujarvi asserts his worth.

:iatp: Canes get good players with big cap hits. Too early to call Puljujarvi a bust but man he sucked when I saw him play but that a personal opinion.
