Toronto Blue Jays History :TOR:

2021: 3rd in AL East (84-78)
:TOR: has to be one of the most improved teams in FGM.  After going through a variety of GMs to start the season, and then going through a period of league proprietorship, the :TOR: finally found some stability when jimw took over the team.  During the second half of the season the :TOR: have been especially competitive and are looking towards a brighter future.  Finishing over .500 was a great step forward.

2020: 10th in East Division (6-54)
The 2020 season is unlike any other in MLB history.  The onslaught of COVID-19 has reduced the season to 60 games, with MLB deciding to go with three geographical divisions.  The :TOR: again suffer from neglect and as the regular season ends, the GM has been removed for a future owner to take over.

The team rosters of the :TOR: and the :ATL: have been switched.  Under the new leadership of WestCoastExpress, a :TOR: fan, the team will hopefully look to better days in the future.

2019: 5th in AL East (64-98)
Unfortunately, the Blue Jays continue to suffer from a lack of care.  The team needs a lot of help in a lot of areas, and hopefully, the team will be able to garner some players via free agency to make it competitive.

2018: 4th in AL East (63-99)
The win total went up by 20 games, and there was an improvement to fourth in the standings but :TOR: is still stuck in the mud.  The team has been hurt by a lack of activity by management.  At one point, the GM was replaced because of his lack of activity, but was reinstated on the basis of a commitment to be more active.  Time will tell if such a commitment will be honored.

2017: 5th in AL East (43-119)
The bottom fell out for the :TOR: in 2017.  Finishing some 91 games behind the the division leader, the :TOR: everyday lineup was simply devoid of impact players beyond Andrew McKutchen.  SPs Andrew Triggs and Chase Anderson did well, but it was not enough to escape the cellar.

2016: 5th in AL East (75-81)
The :TOR: had a much improved rotation, led by Masahiro Tanaka and Kenta Maeda.  However, the everyday lineup lost A-Rod, and got a productive push by rookie Ryan Schimpf, but overall, it was not competitive enough and the :TOR: tumbled in the standings.  In a very competitive AL East, the :TOR: have some work to do if they hope to be competitive.

2015: 2nd in AL East (58-32)
With A-Rod and Jason Kipnis, the :TOR: made a playoff run, but feel short and missed the post-season.  The team made great strides, and were competitive, and there appears to be a definite hope that 2016 will be even better.

2014: 5th in AL East (45-96)
The slide into oblivion continued in 2014.  The team had an improvement in the win column but the roster is still in need of some assets to compete in the AL East.

2013: 5th in AL East (36-105)
The bottom fell out for the :TOR: in 2013 as they slid into the cellar of the AL East.  With an everyday lineup of underperforming players and a slipping rotation, the :TOR: need an infusion of difference makers to have any success.

2012: 4th in AL East (63-97)
The :TOR: could not sustain their success of the previous and tumbled in the standings.  Although the SP rotation performed respectively, the :TOR: everyday lineup had some weaknesses that could not be offset by the pitchers.

2011: 2nd in AL East (97-65), AL Wildcard, AL Champion
The Blue Jays would not have done it in 2011 without Mike Morse and Ben Zobrist.  These two allstars kept the Jays in a race with the Yankees for the division all year.  Despite being a wildcard team for the 2nd year in a row, the Jays upset the Athletic in the ALDS and beat the rival Yankees in the ALCS.  The Canadian/Venezuelan magic came to an end in the final games of the World Series in which the Dodgers took control.

2010: 2nd in AL East (95-67), AL Wildcard
The Venezuelan sensation, Daniel Valensi, took over the team in Toronto and made several key trades with the Reds, Pirates, and Yankees to shed heavy contracts and spice up the boring team that once was.  In came Dan Uggla, Luke Scott, Nolan Reimold, Max Scherzer, and Blake DeWitt.  The Blue Jays took on a tall order as always and competed with the big boys in 2010.  They narrowly missed the division title, but made the playoffs for the first time since 1993 when they last won the World Series.  The Blue Jays lost to the Athletics in the opening round.

2009: 4th in AL East (79-83)
Bradley Chin, the original GM, did not do much other than saying yes and no to a couple of options.  His Blue Jays played around 0.500 as always in 2009.
